There wasn’t a dry eye in the bridal suite the morning of Emily’s wedding. Every moment was a special one because it meant she was another minute closer to marrying Michael. Right before stepping in her dress, Emily and Michael met around a corner, very much wishing to see each other, but holding out for just another hour or two. They were both in disbelief that the day had come and that so many people loved them enough to be there. They both prayed and thanked God and directed their gaze towards Jesus. Over and over again they mentioned the feast that was to come. That this day was only a small picture of what was to come. That all of this pointed to their King Jesus. As Emily got dressed, there was a lot of laughter and a lot of hugs and eventually, a lot of tears. The girls praised and prayed and talked about how the way Michael would look at Emily walking down the aisle is the same way that God looks at us. Full of adoration. Meanwhile, Michael and his guys were downstairs and he was full to the brim with anticipation and excited energy. And all of the sudden it was ceremony time!
Their wedding day never seemed like it was about them. It was always about God. Even as everyone watched their first dance, and Michael sang the lyrics to emily as they swayed. All day, all that spilled from their lips was thankfulness. Thankful that God had given them each other, what they never knew they needed. Thankful that their friends and family had pulled together a beautiful celebration. Thankful over and over again. Their guests remarked on how well they each loved people, right where they were at. And their friends toasted their funny beginnings and the way God had been so faithful to them. It was beautiful and joyful and fun all night long.
This was such a special wedding day to us! We’ve known Michael for a few years now and he’s been a groomsmen in a few weddings that we’ve shot! It was so sweet to see it be his turn to be the groom. It was a day filled with lots of different circles of friends and so, so many people we love. If you look close, you might notice a few (I think there were 8!) past KPP couples :] Michael and Emily, it’s always a joy to be in your presence and this day was no different. You guys made the whole day into a testimony of what God has done and it was absolutely awe inspiring! We love you all!
