Cam and Tyler officially met in Crumb and Get It, a cookie shop in downtown Radford, one night after a Cru weekly meeting. Cam was injured and Tyler was a nurse so he asked for her advice. Most of their exchange was Tyler telling Cam he was dumb for not going to the doctor! Later that night, she told him all she knew about him was that his name was Cam and he likes to dance! Both too true! From there, they struck up a friendship that always had that potential for romance. Not that either of them would’ve admitted it at the time. They even used to go running to spend time together…and neither of them like to run! Eventually, it was inevitable. They were best friends, they cuddled together on the couch, and danced in the living room and so they made it official. And not long after that, they knew that this was meant for the rest of their lives.
I’ve never seen a relationship quite like Tyler and Cam’s. Seriously, they are so joyful together. There’s never a time when they aren’t over the top thrilled to see each other. They have so much fun! I’m not joking when I share that their favorite thing to do together is wrestle and dance in their new apartment and play airplane! They’re self proclaimed weirdos who love every second of their weird shenanigans together. It just makes sense that we did most of their session in their new place. It’s where they are most themselves and get to spend most of their life together. They spent time playing and tickling and jumping on the bed and it was so them.
I’d be amiss if I didn’t mention the very sweetest part of their story. Ever since I’ve known Tyler, her momma was sick. It’s what inspired Tyler to become a nurse and I’m sure so much of what made her who she is today. Her momma loved the Lord with all her heart and loved her daughter deeply as well. And thankfully, Cam got the incredible privilege of knowing Tyler’s mom before she went to be with Jesus. And even more, he got the privilege of asking for her hand in marriage when her momma was in the hospital. Not long before she passed, Cam got to hold her hand and tell her how much he loved Tyler and how he wanted to marry her. And Tyler’s momma, having the incredible gift of knowing her daughter would be well loved and cared for, got to say yes.
I’ve known Tyler since we stumbled into a Cru small group that I led in 2013. I feel so privileged that I’ve gotten to see her walk through so much life! She’s a more bold, more in love with Jesus woman than she was five years ago and it’s all because she let the Lord grow her. And Cam swooped in at the perfect time. Together, they’ve gone through deep heartache and sorrow, but also tremendous joy! He’s helped her bear the burden during the hardest moments, but also been the biggest conduit for uncontrollable laughter and smiles and cuddles! I’m so thankful to know them and to get to see their story play out! (also when Tyler told me they were dating she said “I’m dating Cam and WE’RE IN LOVE!” I was a little worried hahah but all turned out for the best! :])
Cam always cuts flowers for Tyler :]
All the ones in their bedroom are my favorite! So much fun!
Playing airplane like the true weirdos they are!
Slow dancing on the bed!
Haha jumping on the bed was probably the hardest I’ve laughed during a photo session in a long time!
One of my faves!
Cam just treasures her and it’s the sweetest.
Yesss. Two goofballs in love!
We went down to the river for some outdoor portraits!
One of my faves.
