I’ve been married for six months! Seriously?? Where has time gone? It really does feel like no time has passed since I walked through a field to meet my love, so excited I could burst, and so ecstatic that my life had led to this point.
I think the most common question David and I have gotten since we got married was “what is the biggest surprise since you got married?” And honestly, I’m really happy to say that the biggest surprise is that there was no surprise! David and I were so blessed to have dated for 3 and 1/2 years before we got married, to suffer through hard times together, and grow in Christ together. I think we were really prepared by the Lord for marriage so that when the time came, it felt completely natural!
When I reflected on the last 6 months (because of our anniversary and because of our first family holiday full of “how’s married life?”) I realized that we’ve both learned so much and have grown to know each other more. We both are so grateful that we’ve been challenged by our marriage and have been bettered for it.
One of the most memorable moments getting ready on our wedding day was when my mentor Nicolette handed me the last of the letters she’d been writing to me during my senior year. One of the lines said, “this is your redemption story coming to a close.” I truly feel like that is what God has provided for me in David. He is the man that was made for me! The last 6 months have really felt like that and it has been a blessing!
Last night we celebrated by going to the Holiday Inn for dinner, where we had our rehearsal dinner. Then we went home and had a Office marathon and crafted a date jar, which I’ll be sharing soon. Enjoy our weak attempt at self portraits, executed with our tripod made of cookbooks!
