Oh Mondays. I am not a morning person. I feel like there’s always something slightly disappointing about waking up on a Monday specifically after a wonderful weekend. David and I spent our Saturday and Sunday driving to and from Ohio for a sweet friend’s wedding. And for real, it was just so great to sit together and enjoy the ceremony, remember the vows that we’ve said as well and what we promised to each other. And then to enjoy a meal together with friends we rarely see and even dance a little bit with those friends. We even got to ride most of the way back in the car with David’s closest friends from high school.
I love our little home, but it was a bit sad coming back this time. The break from our routine and the joyous celebration was just what I need to be excited about the rest of the summer. It was a breath of fresh air.
Sometimes you just have to get away. I definitely was reminded of that this weekend. I’ve blogged about my best friend Elizabeth before. She lives in Raleigh, North Carolina and has fully embraced the hipster life down there. For real, she moved down there to work for The Summit Church’s college ministry and all of the sudden had curly hair, wore thick framed glasses, and thrift store sweaters and flannel. So of course, when my friend Brittany and I needed a similar breath of fresh air a couple weeks ago we took a long day trip down to Raleigh to see her. Because similar to travel…Elizabeth is a breath of fresh air. She’s funny and genuine all the time and has a way of making you feel comfortable from the first moment you meet her. I’m blessed to have her and her new hipster ways in my life…and crazy friends like Brittany who will drive 7 hours in one day for a 5 total hour visit.
We spent most of our time at a trendy restaurant and coffee shop and a vintage village full of little shops owned by independent owners. Here’s out little adventure in pictures…
Brittany was busy being a lion, next to the lion fountain.
Eek. Just really love and miss my friend. She’s in Serbia right now!
Happy Monday!
