Raise your hand if you ever saw the Princess Diaries or 10 Things I Hate About You and immediately wanted to have a paint war. That’s what I thought. Everyone does.
Every once in awhile for Cru Staff we get to have a staff social, a time where we just have fun together and get to laugh and relax in community. This is like crucial for a job in ministry! Ministry can be really draining and often times pretty stressful. On one hand, it is this amazing opportunity to be apart of people’s lives being changed, but on the other, you are involved with people’s lives! That can be a lot of pressure and super tiring and emotional. So one of the things that we value in return is that we need time in our schedule to destress and not be so serious. (don’t get me wrong, we laugh A LOT) My friend Adam and I got to plan staff social about 3 weeks ago and we were really excited to do something different. We wanted it to be fun and a surprise and something that all of us would remember.
Welp, I think we hit the mark. We got a white door from our friend who always has spare doors on hand (i’m not kidding) and decided that after a very townie lunch at Hank’s we would go back to my house and splatter paint the heck out of that thing. I’ve been trying to get something like this to happen for forever now It was so much fun! It was like squeezing the best stress ball ever. We were flinging paint all over the place and as a bonus the door turned out great and is going to be some of our office art :]
This was seriously SO fun and even though I think everyone who drove by thought we were insane, it was totally worth it. We got to laugh and paint our coworker Ben and eat icee pops and lay out in what was left of the october sun.
I swear Ben (in the middle) is making that face purposely.
Love this one.
Ahhh…and then Ben invited us to splatter paint him.
This of course resulted in us actually painting him.
Poor Layla got painted on the head :[
I title this one…reasons my neighbors think I’m crazy. We live on a street that people drive by all the timeeeee. Also…three weeks later and the paint is still on that tree! Oops :]
Love my team :]
Ahhh…and these are the iphone pictures from yesterday evening where I finally got time to finish up our door :]
Yes…my friend Mel painted one of our leaves and it’s still hanging on.
So, how about you? What’s your favorite metaphorical stress ball?
