So something you should probably know about me is that I love games. Like a lot. I really like learning new games and I love competition and board games evoke feelings that aren’t real, but just fun. I will be tempted to flip a board in a good game of Monopoly and definitely be sore over some healthy Pictionary competition. I grew up loving all things Clue and problem solving…so naturally, having a murder mystery party has been on my bucket list for awhile. So when the staff Christmas party came along, I did not even attempt to stop myself from chanting, “MURDER MYSTERY, MURDER MYSTERY!” And somehow, I lucked out and that’s exactly what we did.
We decided on a 20s theme, found an awesome website (www.nightofmystery.com) and got to planning. Ugh seriously guys! SO MUCH FUN! There is nothing like spending a night accusing your friends of murder and being highly suspicious of everyone in the room. The fun part about the 20s theme was also the fabulous costume options and of course, the fact that fake guns and cigars were totally in. At one point I even caught David pointing a fake gun to our friend Ben’s gut…. 1. I still don’t know how he got the gun. 2. He still doesn’t know why he pulled it on someone, his character was innocent…
My favorite part of planning the whole thing was picking the characters. Landon on the left was the Chief of Police and printed out his own Internet Police badge. Ben on the right was the Mayor, so he spent the evening talking in his George Bush voice and exclaiming how much he hated crime.
Joy looked absolutely fabulous as Dina Diva.
Melanie was the Detective and was perfect for it! I think that the photo on the left was one of the many times she was puzzled about the murder.
Jake on the left wondering who could have killed him, and then Chase on the right successfully winning most terrifying character all night.
On the right is when everyone found out the killer! Mwahahha.
And this is unrelated, but after years and years Jake finally got a Tomahawk for Christmas.
