I’ve been listening to Theo Katzman all day, which is why the title of this blog is the way it is. The song has nothing to do with what I’m thinking of though. But, it is a good song, go check it out.
Okay now for the real reason I’m singing that song in my head. I love being involved in campus ministry and in the lives of college women. I love getting to see them all form relationships and hang out and be friends and share life together. It is an absolute joy to see them form bonds that will last a life time! So today I’m sharing a community event that we put together last Friday for Valentine’s day.
In the midst of the crazy snow and school cancelings, we were supposed to have a retreat! The roads were horrible though, so we scaled it back to just a Valentine’s day dinner. Some of my fellow coworkers and I (and one crazy student volunteer) ran around all day long decorating and doing tasks and picking things up so we could pull this off. And man, we did not think we were going to pull it off. We got the finishing touches and transformed the church JUST in time for everyone to show up. Glitter and mason jars everywhere.
Even though it was Valentines, and it would’ve been so fun to be celebrating with David, I love that we got to serve in this way. The students got to bond together and have fun sharing in the love of Christ, instead of just focusing on the Hallmarkness of Valentines. Yes, we still ate chocolate and dressed up and decorated with hearts. But mostly we just got to be together.
(and yes, we did feel like we were decorating for a really low budget wedding)
Cutest thing ever: my boss brought two of his daughters as his dates!
My husband is really good at being really awkward.
We got some gangstas.
What do you do when you’re in a Valentine’s photobooth with all couples? See right.
My small group girls are hilarious.
And of course, we experimented with sparkles.
Awkward me…never really figuring it out.
And me and my lovely small group :] (this isn’t even half of them!)
