Happy warm sunny not dreary Monday! Whew! I am all for cold weather, but I was SO ready to retire my sweaters for the season. There are students sitting out on the quad and the campus seems a bit more lively and that is glorious.
I’ve had a totally full week as per usual. But I’ve been finding in the midst that there’s been moments where I don’t have any obligations and that time has been so freeing. In a world where everything screams “do more” and “work harder” sometimes it is so freeing to just rest and be…without any conditions or expectations to that. I love that in this crazy season of life, work is life giving. I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again…I’ve got the best jobs in the WORLD and I wouldn’t trade it for a minute. So. Here’s some feels.
- Seriously. Do yourself a favor and pick up “The Freedom of Self-forgetfulness” by Tim Keller. It will blow your mind.
- On a lighter note. HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER IS ENDING TONIGHT! I am a fan. Of many many things. One of my friends always tells me that. “You’re such a fan.” I just love loving things. I’ve been watching this ridiculous little sitcom for 8 years of my life now and I am so sad that it is ending but SO pumped to see who the mother is. Ugh this show was too good. Fan rant over. I guess this wasn’t a lighter note.
- Speaking of fandom…I am a big Joss Whedon fan. He’s produced a LOT of good stuff such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly, Dr Horrible, etc etc. So this week I went to a Rocky Horror styled sing along to Buffy the Musical episode and Dr Horrible with high hopes. Rocky Horror style = at midnight, audience participation, people throwing things and yelling at the screen, actors acting in front of the screen. And yes, all of these things happened. But it was super uncomfortable and awkward and not as funny as we thought it would be. That’s okay! I’m still a fan :]
- My sister is involved at Cru at JMU so we went up to see her at their weekly meeting this week. She was sharing her story and we wanted to be there. So cool to see how God is moving in lives all over the state. the nation. the world. Also I got a little teary eyed. Because it is my sister. And because God is too good.
- “You never forget the ones who lead you out of darkness” That quotes been ringing through my head for a week now. I won’t ever forget those people in my life and that’s what I’ve tried to make my life about since. And I got a sweet card to remind me of that this week from a dear friend, and hearing my sister speak was just an added bonus.
And now, all of those feels summed up into pictures. Top left-bottom right: Neville because he’s cute, new intense fan phone case, our reactions to Saturdays dr horrible/buffy tragedy, and neville because he’s cuddly.
Love my sister and fam and glad she’s goofy with me.
