Happy Monday afternoon readers! Finally being a little settled means that Monday was an exciting thing instead of dreadful! And today also marks at least twelve days until we have to sit in the car for at least four hours again! Whew. Thank goodness for a hometown wedding, and it is back at Sinkland Farms aka our wedding venue. I’ve shot a ton of portrait sessions there, but never a wedding so I’m pumped! It’s gonna be a good one folks.

As you may have seen via my instagram, this was a super important weekend for David and I. It was cow appreciation day! Which if you remember from last year, is David and I’s favorite married tradition. Cow day was on Friday and we were (of course) headed out of town so we made a point to get in our cow get up for lunch and get our free food and fun before driving all evening. I must say, we looked our cutest so far. So cute that we didn’t need to anything before hitting the road, but take off our cow spots. I may or may not have let David drive with a cow spot still on his back for a couple hours. Cow day was wonderful! We got a free and fun date, got to see many people dressed up as cows (even brave souls who dressed as cows ALONE, dedication!), and we discussed how this would be a family tradition when we have kids and got excited about embarrassing far future teen Phipps by making them dress as cows. Also we got free ice cream for being especially cute cows.

The rest of the weekend was catching up with friends that we cherish, wine tasting at a bridal shower for me, a fabulous coffee date, and a long trip to IKEA. I love weekends off weddings, but DANG am I excited to shoot again this weekend.

FEELS!

• David and I listened to the entire Wicked Original Cast Recording on our road trip last night. I had a flashback to being 13 and sitting in the backseat on family roadtrips with my Discman and burned Wicked CD on repeat.
• I was reminded that I know nothing about wine this weekend. I got to go to a old friend’s bridal shower this weekend which was lovely and beautiful and included wine tasting. As everyone made educated observations about what they were drinking I just listened and nodded along with an occasional “this one tastes good.” So much for classy Kaitlyn.
• As far as catch ups go…coffee dates are the best. There is nothing like catching up in a serene atmosphere with something yummy to drink in front of you. Bonus if that coffee shop is not Starbucks.
• David and I visited IKEA with our friend Krysta this weekend and it was so worth the drive and FOUR hour long stay. Whoever designed that place is a genius. And the prices are so good that absolutely everything looks practical. We escaped with the best purchases and FINALLY a practically sized coffee tables. Here’s to actually being able to play games in our living room!
• As I’m typing there is an extreme summer storm overtaking the house and it is making me smile :]
