Well late afternoon Tuesday and I think I’ve finally caught up on sleep! For those who aren’t up to date, this weekend was officially the craziest!
Early friday morning I headed off to Camp Powhatan in Hiwassee, Virginia with my staff team for our annual Fall Retreat. Now Fall Retreat is normally just about the craziest weekend ever anyways. We prepare for months and months for this event and it is a big deal for our ministry every year. So this year, it just so happened to run up next to a dear friend’s wedding! So what choice was there, but to do both! What a cool/insane experience.
So needless to say, I’m suffering from post Fall Retreat exhaustion plus post wedding exhaustion and excessive sleep has been much needed. Also down in Radford, the weather has finally decided it’s Fall and it is the perfect excuse to stay in bed a little (a lot) longer than usual and travel around the house with a million blankets. Today is a day for catching up on all that I’ve missed and I’ve got to say, it’s gonna be a sweet couple weeks on the blog. I’ve got an engagement session, wedding, and bridal session coming your way all of which I’m PUMPED about.
Some highlights and some feels:
- There’s something about sitting around a fire that makes life good: conversations flow easier and s’mores become really important. We had an epic bonfire at Fall Retreat, and then my small group of Junior women came over last night and continued the campfire conversations on my porch. Gosh, I love those ladies so much.
- PSA: this might be too much information, but spanx are good for many things…the most important is of course, making sure you can run around on a wedding day. And the all important second: keeping you warm. This was the first truly cold weekend…like freezing, and you better bet I used those as an extra layer.
- Oversized sweaters also serve multiple purposes: they’re for wearing with leggings and jeans and pairing with long socks, leg warmers, and boots. (did I mention it was cold this weekend?) They’re also for letting your friend sleep in when she’s out of layers (because it can fit over everything, duh). And of course, they’re for letting someone use as a blanket. All of which happened this weekend.
- I am super thankful for my husband. I legitimately don’t think I could even do half of what I’m doing right now in ministry and my business if it weren’t for him!
- Speaking of: one of the freshman guys this weekend told me David’s style was “on point.” I’ve got to say I agree.
You’ll be seeing more from this Fall wedding very, very soon!
