Sunday was a really cool day. My sister was baptized and it was such a surreal moment! For us as Christians, baptism is simply a proclamation of faith. It’s an outward expression of a change that has already taken place in your heart. It’s a way to proclaim, “I will follow Jesus” even when it’s hard and even when it hurts. And that is what Kelsey decided to do a couple days ago!
God has been really good in the way that He has written Kelsey’s story and mine together. We placed our faith in Jesus which forever changed our lives in the same place, four years apart, and now she was baptized in the same place I was, Valley Bible, three years after me! There is SO much that I wish I could share about the intricate details of God reaching out to us, and I would love to…in person :] Our story so far has been a precious one and it just doesn’t translate as well across the interwebs. So I’ll leave you with these images and a small story.
Kelsey had a chance to share her story at church before the baptism annnnnd it made me weep of course. So as she and three other women were baptized I sat there shooting my little heart out and crying into my camera and after long weepy hugs, worship started and everything felt crystal clear. Some of my favorite lyrics are “And the things of this world will go strangely dim in the light of His glory and grace.” Sunday felt like one of those moments. So much of our world directs our eyes to ourselves and demands that we be selfish. But seeing Kelsey be baptized made the veil that so often blurs the reality of God a little bit thinner, if only for a moment. And as we sang that song, followed by Elvis’s “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” I could stand in awe of the great God of the universe…who cares about us, Kelsey and I, very deeply.
I’m gonna be honest! I don’t know this girl, but this was too sweet of a moment not to share!
One of our Cru students, Kami :]
And this is where the tears really started.
😀
LeeAnn’s a fellow Cru staff and Kelsey’s roommate!
And then we went to breakfast and celebrated all the awesomeness. Love these roomies.
In other news, this was the day I realized just how big my sweaters have gotten…
And my favorite.
Legitimately, I love telling our story. If you ever want to hear it, feel free to ask! :]
