What a week, friends. And it is still going! The last week of life was nice and relaxed for the most part, finishing up by being nice and crazy and all types of wonderful.
And that of course means, that it was time for another Creative at Heart conference. I barely have the brain capacity to write this post right now, so I’m going to save my long form post on C@H for later this week :] BUT I will say that once again it was encouraging and inspiring, exhausting and life giving, and EMOTIONAL all at the same time. Once again, I was left in giant cartoon sized tears as I listened to some of the ladies in this industry that I admire finish up their talks. So I’m officially a little sleep deprived, with very puffy eyes, feeling inspired to do big things through my business. The best thing about this conference is that my HEART has been so affected both times! I’ve left wanting to love the Lord more and be bolder in my life! It’s just insane to see these well known and respected business owners get up and be bold about their faith and share the most vulnerable parts of their lives with 100 creatives. I’ve got so much left to process and to share…so I’m going to get on to some feels :]
- I love Ashley Powell. We met at the last C@H conference and got to help with some behind the scenes stuff together this time around. We bonded over Jesus, giant slices of pizza, and silliness due to exhaustion. She’s amazing.
- As much as we need to fight for people over pretty things as creatives…the pretty things are awfully nice too :] There’s nothing like being at a conference planned by a wedding planner and sponsored by event companies to see just how BEAUTIFUL a hotel can be. From giant balloons to garland with clementines to bucketloads of confetti I was snapping my iPhone every two seconds.
- My favorite people are in town. Our besties Maddy and Mark and their two beautiful kiddos are staying in our home for the week and life couldn’t be better! Even though I arrived home exhausted yesterday evening, we stayed up late chatting about all the good things.
- Which led David to say this: “You are the queen of taking things that mean nothing and making them everything.” He was referring to the way I’m a fan of pointless things and then I somehow weave them into something that has soul significance. It’s a talent.
- This is why I love photography: Mary Marantz talked to us all about how life is linear…it keeps moving on and on and our moments disappear, never to return. But photography says, “Not this moment. This one stays.”
Ashley and I’s faces are so smiley because we blew up those heart shaped balloons…much to our own lungs’ peril.
