Is anyone else getting tired of this insane RAIN we’ve been having?! Don’t get me wrong, I’m usually all for April showers and summer thunderstorms. They kind of make me happy! I’m a bit like Eeyore in that way…the gloomy rainy weather usually makes me happy and feels like a great excuse to wear a good hoodie and jump in some puddles. But on the flip side…the reasons why I don’t like thunderstorms and heavy rain are twofold: 1. It cancels all of my shoots and I end up in a mess of rescheduling! I’m about to get rained out (hopefully not) for the fifth time in one week! 2. Layla is scared of thunder and she insists on sitting right under my chair and shaking and leaving a pile of dog hair by my feet. Clearly these are both bad things. So come on rain, give me a break here!

Other than that, it’s been a good week! We’re still wrapping up here in Radford and it is so hard to believe that this spring semester has come and almost gone by now. And even harder to believe is that this April marks THREE years since I was muddling my way through finishing college and procrastinating all of my final papers and exams. I’ve said it once and I’ll say it a million times, I am SO thankful to be done with school. That terrible procrastinatey part of me has all but disappeared since finishing my adventure in formal education and I think I’m better for it. Also it makes me even more proud of my husband and our Cru students who are pushing so hard to finish and be excellent students. Serious props to them because all I was concerned about was getting that diploma.

Now for some feels:

•  Is anyone outside of the wedding industry on Periscope?!?! I’m genuinely curious here! It’s an app that runs through Twitter and allows you to live broadcast to your followers! Such a cool idea! Right now I’m just soaking up the tips and tricks of other creatives, but I’d love to see some other people jump on board with it!
• Also, please tell me I’m not the only one who doesn’t totally understand it? #canwejustkeepinstagram?
• I’m going to do you a favor here. If you haven’t heard of Rainbow Rowell, you need to make a life change pretty soon. She’s phenomenal. Feel free to heed my advice and pick up any one of her 4 novels at Barnes and Noble. I’d recommend “Eleanor & Park” first…but hey I love all of them so much that they’ve all gotten multiple read-throughs.
• Here are some reasons I love The Rocket Summer: Bryce Avary just instagrammed this new lyric – “I believe the sweetest tragedy is when the old you dies.” YES! This is both a perfect observation of life and the reason that I need his new album to come out ASAP. (if you haven’t heard of TRS…do yourself another favor and spotify it)
• Also Needtobreathe’s new live album is worth a listen.
• I feel like a big walking advertisement for random things right now. I’m like evangelizing periscope, rainbow rowell, needtobreatheand the rocket summer to you… Eek! Sorry! But sometimes I just get in that groove of discovering or rediscovering things and I gotta share it with YOU!
• Fog could be a serious hindrance in many circumstances. But sometimes, you just gotta make it work for you. See below. :]
