Three years together. It’s hard to believe it’s been both that short and that long. My memories of living with roommates and not knowing if I’d see David every day feel fuzzy around the edges. Nothing has been quite as lovely as living and sharing life with my love. It’s complete security and a life full of laughs. It’s being able to be alone and be together at the same time. It’s just the best.
Our 3rd year of marriage was very different than the first two. David completed his first year of grad school and my business picked up momentum I never thought it would have. We learned (even more) how to balance the craziness that is our life. We had hard conversations and routinely stayed up way too late binge watching Netflix. We spent a lot of nights eating Little Caesar’s and trying to catch up on work. We escaped the mundane together a couple of times, and packed up and headed somewhere purely fun. We also spent more hours in the car than either of us thought was possible, so yes, lots of miles in the Sassapri.
The longer time goes on together, the harder it is to believe that we did life apart. It’s not always cute, or happy, but it is worth it. We’re living out the middle of our messy, beautiful story with Jesus and it’s a different kind of wonderful.
Here’s a little iPhone summary of our Raleigh trip. It was a quick 24 hours, but it was full of our favorite things. Food, pictures, coffee shops, and shopping.
The melting pot is perfection. Also our waitress talked to us in the third person all night…so that was fancy.
Our Vintage Village trip.
And the cutest storefronts go to…
Because a Belgium waffle with ice cream and nutella is the best way to celebrate an anniversary. Hooray for cute coffee shops.
