Sometimes a pair of shoes can really change your life. A pair of chucks more specifically. What’s a guy to do when all he’s got a burning image of purple chucks in his head, but can’t recall the girl attached? Well, he asks around for the girl with the purple shoes of course. And that’s how it all began for Jay and Emily. Just a girl with a pair of purple chucks and a guy who needed to find the girl who owned them.

Since then, they’ve been constant in each others’ lives. Whether sharing glances in the VT dining halls or spending time on the lawns of the drill field, falling in love came easy. As Emily puts it, ever since that night they were just Jay and Emily and it’s hard to remember a time when it wasn’t that way.

That is definitely how David and I felt as we strolled Tech’s campus last week with them and their two pups. It’s hard to imagine Jay without Emily’s sweet little laugh following right behind one of his jokes. And it’s hard to imagine Emily’s laugh without Jay’s smile in response directly following. And I think their photos show it. They’re constantly laughing and making each other smile. They’ve been long distance for quite some time now and I think they’ve embraced soaking up the joy of each others’ presence when they have it.

And Emily’s signature laugh made an appearance all evening :]
