I have loved, just LOVED, investing in the educational side of our business lately. Through Creative at Heart, I’ve been learning SO so much and creating community all the while. The Guide and The Lighting Guide by Justin and Mary are rocking my world. And I’m constantly employing all of the information I’ve soaked up at Abby’s A Practical Wedding Workshops. It’s just been a blessing to have opportunity to hear women and men speak that I thought I’d never have a chance to be in the same room with, much less have a conversation with!
So it goes with the Come Together event last Thursday. I’ve been following Katelyn James‘ blog since I was a Junior in college, so that’s four years now! I really admire the way she runs her business and you really only need to take one look at her website to know just how talented she is. She’s one of those people who truly lives up to her online presence and that is rare. Online you can be anyone you want, and Katelyn always chooses to unashamedly be herself. And I LOVE that. Because that’s what I want for my business and my online presence as well.
I actually started following Amy and Jordan Demos because they shot Heather Morris from Glee’s maternity portraits đ Yes, that’s really how I started following them. I loved Glee just so darn much. So it was such a surprise when I found out they were friends with Katelyn and Michael! It makes sense, awesome people are friends with awesome people. Amy and Jordan are a little bright and happy spot on the internet for me. They share so often and so much, and they’re social media presence will just make you smile :]
All that to say, it was kind of a no brainer when seats went on sale for the Come Together Event. Amy and Jordan would be sharing on Social Media and Katelyn would be sharing on Blogging and why would I miss this affordable event that was only 3.5 hours from home? And then there was the added bonus of being able to bring David! It was just a good day. David trooped it out in a room almost full to the brim with only women and we both took away a lot of heartfelt and practical tips to serve our clients well.
As much as I loved all of the practical tips, it was more of just an inspiring evening. All three speakers got to the heart of why their business matters. Not for making money or living out your dream, but because you should be making a difference in peoples’ lives because of your business. And Katelyn and Michael and Amy and Jordan are doing just that with their business. Countless stories left me in tears because they are making a difference in the lives of their clients, they really are. And they were so forward about the hard work you have to put in, the commitment to being a leader, and the battle to fight comparison. It was just good. Real life, authentic, vulnerable stuff. I’m thankful for that.
I could go on all day, but instead I’ll just say, if you aren’t following Katelyn and Amy and Jordan, you best start. And if you’re blogging or social media presence needs some practicality and a kick right in the heart then you should check out the recorded version of this event!
Also the above instagram made it onto Katelyn’s blog…which was a life dream I didn’t even know I had đ (david’s nametag lol)
