Family and friends of Anders and Emily ventured to Khimaira Farm in Luray, VA from all over the country, really from all over the world, making this special day a true destination wedding for everyone involved. Anders and Emily have spent such a large part of their relationship, not to mention their entire engagement, with almost a whole country between them. Their beautiful wedding coming together with thoughtful details was truly a labor of love and determination; after all, planning a Virginia wedding from Texas isn’t easy. And neither is maintaining a relationship and balancing grad school at MIT for Anders and a high demand job in Texas for Emily.
When you add all that up, the way that the day unfolded makes perfect sense. There was high anticipation and a peace that ran throughout all involved. From Anders confessing that he was a tad nervous, but mostly very excited to see his bride, to Emily moving around her cabin in confident stillness with her girls. Anders beamed as he waited under a gazebo and heard Emily approaching. Emily, clutching her grandmother’s handkerchief, walked slowly and surely towards her groom. And finally with a sigh of relief, they locked eyes and Emily whispered softly “we made it.” With tears in their eyes they sunk into a tight embrace with a sureness that there would be no goodbyes any time soon. And all of this before they even walked down the aisle!
The day, as much as it was about reunion, was about relationship with God and how the new Mr and Mrs Lee’s lives reflect that. Anders’ father officiated the ceremony and all of the guests sang along with his sisters as they sweetly sang “In Christ Alone.” There were whispers throughout the day about how incredible and thoughtful Anders and Emily were as individuals, and I’m sure they’ll only be more so together. Both toasters asked the guests to raise a glass and toast the new adventures that they will go on together.
So, Anders and Emily, with great excitement for your marriage, here’s to a lifetime full of adventuring by one another’s side.
Emily designed the invitation suite and all of the paper goods. Because she’s that wonderful.
And the maid of honor, aka my long time friend Bethany, painted these fun glasses for the girls!
It had been SO long since David and I were a part of a first look and this one did not disappoint!
And this is when I felt like we were in a secret garden.
Such a fun and thoughtful bridal party!!
All of the MIT groomsmen’s socks coordinated to their techy major :]
Because Khimaira Farm was once a thriving goat farm! So Julep had to come out and play :]
