August 8th was a long awaited and celebrated day for so many reasons. Not only was it a celebration of the love and commitment of Clay and Alison, but a celebration of friendship, an end of distance, a new beginning. It was a beginning and a sweet goodbye all wrapped up in one. Friends came from all over to celebrate. From the far reaches of Alabama to Virginia college friends gathering again, just for the occasion, it was a reunion the whole day through. And it was also a hello to bringing their two worlds together, and a goodbye to it being so in the near future. And that’s really why weddings are so beautiful, all of your people in one place, just for one night.
Clay and Alison planned a wedding while coordinating plane rides and meet-in-the-middles, figuring out how Alison could make the move to Alabama when they were husband and wife. And that is enough to make anyone wish wedding planning goodbye :] So no wonder she spent the morning asking how soon she could get in her dress and how close it was to 4 o’clock. By the time this day came, it was about time to be married. And Clay was the same, waiting for his bride to walk down the stairs and tap him on the shoulder, surprised all over again by the beauty of his almost wife.
I’m so excited and privileged to be sharing this wedding today. And so excited that the Waldrops have kissed the goodbyes, goodbye. I hope Jamaica is the vacation you truly needed with each other! Here’s to forever!
