Our 2015 wedding season wrapped up about 2 months ago, but it feels like it was just yesterday. I know I’m going to be itching to get shooting again come May. Probably even sooner :] It feels so odd to go so long without shooting a wedding, when it becomes just a normal part of life. So today’s post goes out to all of my favorite moments. The father of the bride toasts, the tearful first looks, the whispered prayers before walking down the aisle, and of course, spending the day with my favorite second shooter, David.
I’m SO thankful that I get to work beside my husband and I really can’t imagine it another way. He’s been shooting with me since the very beginning. There’s no one else who knows exactly when to hand me a new card or a fresh battery…and this season, exactly when I’d get pregnant hangry and need food ASAP. We have so much fun working together and so much fun with our couples.
Here’s a little glimpse into what we’re doing on a wedding day. Messy hair, goofy faces, and all.
We go where we’re needed. Whether that’s zipping up a stubborn dress or testing light. Aka Jobin’s always my light model.
My sole focus all the time is shooting, while David shoots and carries all of our bags and whatever else I tell him to. Often, gorgeous bouquets :] I’m not sure who’s got the better end of the deal :]
But I guess he has fun :]
David also makes me laugh all day.
That time we shot the groomsmen shooting shotguns. Say that 5 times fast.
I’m not totally sure why we thought this was so funny. But we love personalized coke and we had a long drive back from Adam and Lauren’s stunning wedding!
This was a crazy day. One, it was the wedding of a girl I’d been discipling through Cru for three years! And two, it was the day I found out I was pregnant. Emotional. to. say. the. least. But I think I held it together well :]
I hugged everyone a lot more than usual and David resumed his usual role of helping with boutonnieres.
And we blurry selfie-ed because I love this girl.
And I reception danced a little more than normal 😀
Love these girls!
On the left: we left Haley and Nathan’s wedding to this hilarious snapchat. And on the right: the hottest, most beautiful VA Beach wedding.
Like I said, we go where we’re needed. David helping the men tie some skinny ties and me being a walking the aisle model for David. And looking super happy about it.
So good! Four of my brides all in the same bridal party 😀
Golf cart touring and location scouting before our day started 😀
Us at the Saraceni reception. What I want to know is…why does it look like I’m at an empty venue and David’s at a full one??
David, for some reason, was looking a little grumpy about this bouquet. While I was absolutely ecstatic about the fact that there was a sorting hat at the reception!
Rocking out some bridal party portraits in the midday sun :]
Good day for many reasons. One being that I got to see my old friend Bethany. And two being that there was a GOAT walking around asking to be pet.
Clay and Alison went into a grass field for me and I love them for it!
Oh Jobin. Blending in with the guests.
I don’t know. Like I said, he makes me laugh.
When our friends at guests at weddings…we laugh at dance moves a little more than normal. Morgan was breaking it down and David’s just laughing and laughing in the background.
Fast forward two months later and here’s our hurricane wedding day! We hunted down enough umbrellas for the bridal party and spent all day in the pouring rain!
Same day hanging out with a 2014 bride and groom. Brian was the groom’s brother!
And this is Caitlin telling me that she was going to be a momma too! So shocked!
David taking care of business. Modeling and moving large ugly branches out of my way.
Mike and Adrianne’s wedding was one of the best days! And clearly I was so excited to watch them exit!
What I want to know…what am I shooting here? Too many good dance moves to go around :]
I’m not totally sure what Mike is doing here, but I was loving some bridal time with Adrianne. And on the right is that time I took my shoes off so I could shoot from the fountain!
David trying to get out of my shot…and failing.
Another wonderful day! And another day I’m thankful for the crop tool :]
We were happy campers! A wonderful wedding day, filled with cows mooing during the ceremony, and Oliver along for the ride.
Can you spot David?! This was the funniest father of the bride toast and he was laughing it up along with the guests.
David getting set for the first look :]
A trick I learned from Abby Grace. If you want to get a genuine reaction for a solo portrait, make them look at their new spouse instead of your camera :] Carolyn’s so beautiful!
Some iPhone BTS shots. The bump in full force.
Because these just make me laugh. Why is that David’s shooting stance? And Cheesy Gordita Crunches are the perfect after wedding treat.
And just as a little bonus. Two BTS shots from Abby Grace workshops. I always get to be the bridal model and sometimes I don’t have enough hands to hold all the things. SO my umbrella just rests on my head.
So what did we learn? We only did SLIGHTLY better than last year with behind the scenes shots. And David and I have a little too much fun at weddings. Not pictured: all the times I looked like even more of a hot mess.
