It all started with vampires. No, seriously. It really did. I’m excited to share this love story because we got a front row seat to how it all began.
LeeAnn’s a ballerina at the Roanoke Ballet Theatre and she was one of the leads in the Dracula ballet. She’s also on our Cru staff team so a bunch of us were going out to see her performance one night in October. And David received a text from John that same day. “Hey, are you going to LeeAnn’s performance tonight?” David and I exchanged glances as soon as the text came in. “Yeah, are you?” John wanted to catch a ride into Roanoke with us to see LeeAnn dance. We barely knew John. And we knew that John didn’t know LeeAnn very well. Why in the world was he asking to go to see LeeAnn in Dracula?
“So, John…are you a big fan of the ballet?” I couldn’t help myself. The question had to be asked. John went on for awhile about how he just wanted to come support LeeAnn. It seemed like she had worked really hard leading up to the show and he wanted to support that. All of us were bewildered at the theatre. All of us wondering why John was there. LeeAnn danced gracefully and perfectly, unaware of the fact that he had ever noticed her. And when she came out to see us after the show, all of us whisper screaming “WHY IS JOHN HERE?”, it was only then she began to catch on.
We all went out to dinner afterwards, John seated at a table with her parents and some of her closest friends. Just chatting away. He was nonchalant through the entire evening. But I think we all knew that something was going on. And in fact it was. It was just the beginning.
John lights up when he holds LeeAnn in his arms. He looks at her like he’s the luckiest for getting to be with her. And LeeAnn responds in obvious joy. She gets giggly when she talks about the wedding, smiles bright when someone mentions John. Spending time with them for their session last week only affirmed all over, that yes, they are so much better together. John & LeeAnn, we’re crazy excited for you two! 18 short days until you tie the knot!
We started in Downtown Radford.
They laugh so much together. It’s the best.
The way John holds her is so sweet.
One of my favorites!
We ended at the Duck Pond in Blacksburg. Because Cherry Blossoms.
