For Catherine, it started in middle school. She clearly remembers Max, sitting in her math class. But Max says he’s blocked middle school out entirely. Fair enough. So instead, it started in high school. After some amazingly awkward back and forth, they went on a date. And Catherine remembers not wanting it to end. She asked if the date could continue by wondering if there were some woods they could walk around in together. They both laughed as they retold this story. The rehearsed back and forth of a couple who’s been together almost eight years. From small and slightly awkward beginnings, they developed into something so much more beautiful. Through graduating high school, long distance through college, and now, figuring out life outside of school they’ve stuck together. Growing to love each other more in spite of their struggles, because of ways they’ve had to grow.
Simply put, Max and Catherine are really special people to be around. They invite you in to their love. Into their fun and their banter. They laugh freely. Max cracking jokes every few seconds and Catherine’s smile sparking in the evening sun. They light up in each other’s arms. They’ve got an easy presence around each other. Something that could only be developed by almost a decade of life together. They’re the kind of couple that you could describe quickly as best friends. And as best friends who invite you to be a part of their best friendship with open arms.
We had so much fun walking around Manassas Battlefield with these two. David and I got in the car afterwards just beaming, wishing their November wedding was much sooner. We’re infinitely glad they’re getting married and we both left our time together with hearts filled to the brim with joy.
As Catherine and I walked back to the cars, I asked her why it was worth it to stick it out, long distance, for so many years. With tears in her eyes she spoke of the way that they’ve gotten to see each other grow up. That they understand, deeply, where each other has grown from. And that’s made it worth all the waiting. That’s the kind of special love that high school sweethearts share. I hope you enjoy their session!
Just so sweet.
Catherine, you’re SO gorgeous!
He’s got the best smile when she’s in his arms.
They’ve got the best smiles!!
The sunset really showed off for us that evening! Pink, warm, pretty light everywhere you looked!
