He noticed her first. But she wasn’t quite available at the time. But slowly and surely, he came into her field of vision. Church events and long walks through Harper’s Ferry and that one time she asked him to help her move all led up to him getting the courage to ask her out. And Kerry, finally, excitedly said yes. And over and over, Jonathan proved how amazing he was to her. Not that she ever doubted. And he was just happy that she’d said “yes” and that she was saying yes over and over again, all the time. So I don’t think it came as a surprise to anyone when he planned to propose at the same spot where they first hung out and spent so much time together. On a bridge in Harper’s Ferry, Jonathan dropped to one knee, and with some help from Kerry’s pup, he asked to marry her. Kerry said yes one more time.
When Kerry first emailed me, she sent me her version of her and Jonathan’s love story. And it was practically a novel. I squealed with joy when I received it, sat down with a mug full of ice cream, and read through. And the overwhelming theme I sensed was God’s plan and faithfulness. There’s so much in their story that could not be described by coincidence. God knitting them together ever so slowly. Every so carefully. And it was beautiful to see.
Our time strolling around Harper’s Ferry with these two was wonderful! Kerry’s the talker. She giggles and chats and tells stories and Jonathan is strong and constant at her side. Smiling as she speaks, adding in little details, holding her close. They’ve got an easy presence together and it’s so fun to be around. I’m so excited to show you their Harper’s Ferry engagement session! It was a blast! (and it’s also one of my new favorite locations!)
Their sweet pup :]
They make each other laugh :]
So sweet together.
He loves her so!
On the right: Kerry’s reaction when I said Jon should reenact the proposal!
Can’t wait for August, you two!
