If you follow me anywhere on the internet you already know, but just in case: DAVID’S DONE WITH SCHOOL! Guys, we’ve been waiting for this moment for so long. Two whole years and they feel so much longer than that! We went into this season of life not quite knowing what the other side would look like. My business was entering it’s first full summer season, we were excited to start another year with Cru, and we definitely had no idea we’d have a baby when he graduated. We were juggling a TON of different roles. David more than anyone.
His two years in school meant that he was taking 12 credits each semester (a full load for grad school), working part time at the library for his grad assistantship, working part time for Cru, and helping me with the business. All at the same time. If you add into that the fact that he was a stellar husband as well, then it really adds up :]
Sometime in the last year, when he was so close to the end, we figured out that he was working about 70 hours a week during our busy season. And still, he powered through to the finish line. He had to sacrifice so much to make it work. And to see him do all of those roles and responsibilities well was incredible. Now that it’s over we’re excited to see him get some of his life back. He can read for fun, play guitar, spend time with me and Ollie without feeling like he should be getting work done, see his friends…the list goes on! As much as it’s an end a season of formal education, it’s also the beginning of a season. We don’t know exactly what’s next, but we’re excited to take it slow and figure it out.
Last Friday was celebratory for both of us :] Here’s a peek at all the double peace signs and cheesiness that came with David’s hooding ceremony.
Can you spot him?
Each graduate picks a professor to hood them and you can see David’s prof right in front of him holding up #1.
I dared him to take a selfie while he got hooded, not expecting anything…and he did it.
He’s done!
Ollie was amazing the entire time. He cried when the bagpipes played at first…but other than that he was snoozing away and cuddling. So that meant victory for both me and Krysta, who was helping me out.
I made him take some pictures after :] On the left is him redoing his high school senior pictures. (insert eye roll here)
David’s mom and dad both came into town for the ceremony.
My heart :]
Wittle boy :]
