LeeAnn teared up when she glanced out the window and saw her wedding ceremony being set up on the hill. She’d just stepped into her dress. She was finally a bride. And the tears welling up in her eyes were enough to prompt the rest of the room to start crying as well. The morning passed by in a blur, but slipping on the dress? That meant it was almost time. Meanwhile John was down the stairs, calmly telling jokes as he and his groomsmen did up their ties. He glanced out the window every now and then, anxiously awaiting what was to come.
The entire wedding day was a labor of love between the Elders and the Walkers. Both the ceremony and reception were held at the Elder’s home in Charlottesville. But you’d never know that. The house was full of pictures of John and LeeAnn, the walk up to the ceremony site marked by images from growing up until now. The cross permanently installed on the hillside, marking where they’d say their vows. The whole day was a build up, anticipation for the moment John and LeeAnn would lock eyes. From the first look LeeAnn exchanged with her father, to praying, back to back, with John moments before the ceremony. And then it really was time. John broke into a huge smile as his bride walked down the aisle. The pastor spoke of their faithfulness, both to the Lord’s plan and to each other, as they walked through the last year and a half of dating. They sealed it with a kiss and walked back down the aisle to “We are the Champions.” Because, why not?
The whole day spoke of that soul joy that both John and LeeAnn contain. A true sign of their contentment in their relationship with Jesus Christ and with each other. LeeAnn laughed loud and smiled big all day long. And John was always at her side. Grinning and thanking everyone for being there. Ever the gentleman. His toast was full of gratitude for every guest present, because every person there had shaped them into who they were today. And as they swayed slowly to the last song, surrounded by their guests, “Tiny Dancer” lulled the night to an end.
Hope you enjoy the new Elders wedding day! We love you two!!!
Fuzzy socks for the getting ready portion of the day :]
Just in case you don’t know, LeeAnn’s a ballerina. And this dress full of tulle was PERFECT for her.
The moment it became real :]
John gifted LeeAnn a set of pearls and LeeAnn gave John a journal full of memories.
First look with her daddy!
And quiet prayers with John, right before the ceremony.
Can you believe this isn’t a venue?!
We are the champions!
You couldn’t wipe a smile from LeeAnn’s face all day long.
Portrait time on the hillside :]
They read private vows to each other in a forest!
