Guys. We did it. We survived our first double header wedding weekend. Not that we ever thought we wouldn’t! But we’ve never shot two weddings in a row before! And here’s the real thing…it was a JOY! Such a joy. We (probably mostly me) were high on joy and and pretty light and beautiful, heartfelt brides and grooms and Justin Timberlake music on the dance floor all weekend long!

We’ve got three weekends like that this year and it felt like such a no brainer to say YES to these wonderful couples. Now that weddings mean a full day away from Ollie, we knew that every single wedding needs to be a perfect fit! And two weddings, two days in a row is no easy feat, but our couples are so lovely that the sore feet and tired shoulders are more than worth it.

Add the fact that we shot an engagement session and traveled up to Northern VA and are catching up with a bajillion friends and family up here and we are tired. But we’re taking it slow today (hence my 5PM blog post ;]), and soaking in some Ollie time.

Did I mention that we love our clients and the fact that taking pictures for literal princesses like the one below is our JOB?!

I could gush for hours. So now it’s time for feels.

• I feel like this is obvious, but I truly love weddings. It doesn’t feel like work. It’s so much joy and so much smiling. My emotions get worn out from all the sentimental moments more than my feet do!
• There was a huge black snake chilling near us while we took bride and groom portraits yesterday. David and I kept our cool, but he spent a good 5 minutes of our car ride back last night having a retroactive freak out about it.
• I cry at every wedding. Especially when the last older couples are left on the dance floor during the anniversary dance. And everyone starts applauding at their 50 year commitment. Gah. it’s too much.
• Things I’ve never seen before and will likely never see again: a guy going super hard to Hanson’s “MmmBop” on the dance floor. For real. It was incredible.
• I showed my mom an image from yesterdays wedding, with horses(!!!) in the background. Her response: You guys got lucky! That was a friendly horse! (what she didn’t realize was that the horses were not wild…
• Out of nowhere this weekend, David said this about “Can’t Stop the Feeling” by JT: This would be my at bat song if I played baseball. Which is clearly the most important part of baseball.

So many previews. So much pretty. SO many moments that will last a lifetime. Can’t wait to share it all! It’ll be a fun couple weeks on the blog!
