Alex and Nicki have quite the love story. Two dreamers, living in New York City together, and on June 25th, they finally tied the knot. As we walked into Rust Manor House, we saw Alex first. And he was ready. He’d been ready. Since the beginning of the day and for quite awhile now. He exchanged toasts with his groomsmen, toasting to commitment, friendship, losing priority in his life, but gaining a new best friend in Nicki. Nicki was just the same, bustling around her bridal suite full of forever friends, everything exciting. Everything bringing a bright smile to her face. She slipped on her dress and her mother and father teared up as they walked in the room. “You look so beautiful.” And she did. Like a true princess.
And like any princess, she was gifted a glass slipper by her prince, only moments before the ceremony. As they stood around the corner from each other, they prayed and excitedly wished they could see each other, exchanging a fist bump before they headed to the ceremony site. They are head over heels, beyond reason in love. But with a grounding factor that love is not a feeling, but instead a choice and a commitment. Alex spoke in his vows that he doesn’t believe in soulmates, but that he firmly believed God had brought them together for a reason. And Nicki declared, come what may, she would love him fiercely.
The evening was full of emotional moments. Whether it was Nicki’s dad asking for “just one dance, please” with his baby girl before starting the father/daughter dance. Or it was Alex’s father and best man, declaring that his position that day meant they shared more than a family connection, but a true friendship. And it was a party, guests from all over the nation, the dance floor packed all evening long. Alex and Nicki were whisked off into the night through a “jazz hands” tunnel, of course, and are celebrating in Quebec.
