Good afternoon, Monday lovelies! Summer does the weirdest things to us over at the Phipps house. With weddings and traveling and adventuring around, we’re never quite sure what day of the week it is…but writing some feels always reminds me that it’s GO time. Another week has started and it’s time to make it happen!
This week you’re catching me smack dab in the middle of a trip to Norfolk to visit David’s family. A lot of them haven’t gotten to meet Mr Ollie, so we’re making the rounds and he’s doing what he does best…show off :] He just happens to be extra cute when people want to meet him. We’ve also gotten to visit with friends and it’s been so refreshing! I love the type of relationships where you can fill each other in on life, and then pick right back up where you started. It’s the best. Shout out our to friends who feel just like family we’ve chosen :]
In other news, in the wake of all the tragedy happening this past week, I don’t have a ton to report. To be honest, I feel like I’ve been spending a lot of time thinking through what it means to love people during a time of turmoil. And how to enter in to a problem that can feel so distant. As one of my favorite authors, John Green, says, I’m trying to imagine others complexly in order to gain empathy and feel more deeply. Anyone experiencing the same?
Either way, I figured you guys could use some iPhone glimpses of Ollie at the pool :] He’s a joy bringer no matter what is happening around him.
Now for feels:
- Guys, is Pokemon Go worth my time? What’s all the hype? I feel slightly old and out of the loop. Someone help me out here! So far I haven’t done any pokemon catching, but I AM cracking up at all of the memes and pokemon pictures people are posting on Facebook!
- Problem that’s not actually too much of a problem: We’ve used Oliver as an alarm for months now. Annnnnd that backfires when he sleeps until 10am. But also…we slept until 10am.
- On Friday evening, I watched our friends dance around the living room with their two year old for their nightly dance party before bed. How did we enter this crazy, weird, wonderful stage of life? I don’t quite feel grown up enough yet. Does that ever go away? :]
- Ollie freaking loves the pool. And as a former swimmer, I couldn’t ask for more! He splashed around like a maniac yesterday and it tired him out immediately! And he had the cutest little determined smile :]
- Newborn photogs: you guys are angels. There’s so much that goes into lifestyle photography that I didn’t realize. After loving our newborn experience with Andrea Pesce, I wanted to try it out! So my friends Luke and Joy let me give it a go. Let’s just say, they were rockstars, and I’m still learning a lot!
