Depth of Feels, Uncategorized

depth of feels

The most fitting Instagram post I saw today said this: “Mondays: My mama don’t like you, and she likes everyone.” Yes. Feeling it. Especially on this Monday!

I heard someone compare October for photographers to tax season for accountants. It’s SO true! It’s Fall and everyone wants pictures with the pretty Fall leaves. Which works for me because I want pictures with the Fall leaves too :] But this week is going to be crazy amidst all the fun! In the span of eight days we’ve got four sessions, one proposal, and two weddings! Phew. It’s a good thing I love what I do. It’s the best kind of exhausting, you know?!

(speaking of! here’s a pretty ring, even though I can’t disclose it’s owner quite yet :])

This last week a lot of time was spent editing through Bob and Megan’s hurricane wedding, and getting organized in the midst of the busy wedding season! Even though we kicked off the crazy last weekend (6 weddings in 7 weeks), this actually felt like the most organized and productive week thus far in the semester! Yay for finally adjusting to a new schedule! (two months later, but I’m still counting it as a win!) We went out of town for Matt and Ashley’s Richmond wedding, and then a couple hours after, I jetted off to shoot a proposal. So needless to say, I’m dragging a little bit for a Monday. A little bit of caffeine and frequent breaks to watch Ollie play with his blocks definitely cures the Monday blues though :]

Now for some feelings:

  • Every time I shoot bridal details, I take a small pause while shooting the rings. One, because diamonds are pretty. Two, because I want to take extra care to not let them look like Mickey Mouse. (because one larger men’s band plus two small dainty wedding bands = recipe for the mouse)
  • Saturday night was our first night away from Ollie! And what did we do to celebrate? Got late night Mcdonald’s and ate it in bed. We’re classy, wild people…clearly.
  • While we’re on the subject of Mcdonald’s, we had to wait for a little bit in the drive thru for our chicken nuggets to be ready. And I remember thinking (life of a small business owner), “wow, it’d be really great if they included something for free to apologize for the wait.” And lo and behold, FREE cookies in our to go bag! This Mcdonald’s was doing it right, friends.
  • Matt and Ashley’s wedding band, The Mash up, made for one of the most fun receptions ever! They covered everything from Country Roads to the Beastie Boys to Aerosmith. It was impressive and SO entertaining! I don’t think anyone wanted the night to end!
  • David and I are really good at convincing ourselves that it’s time to go to Olive Garden. And gift cards only enable (and bless) us majorly. We love the Garden. Especially now that Ollie can sit in a high chair! (i want to believe that he loves it too)

Cannot waitttttt to show off this wedding! It was perfectly planned and absolutely beautiful!
