Friends, today is gloomy. The sky is grey and the leaves have fallen and it’s looking pretty brown and mushy outside. And it’s dark outside. But once again, I’ve got a lot of pretty sunshine and people on my laptop to get me through the daylight savings slump :]

If you’ve been anywhere online in the past week, you know the internet has been an unhappy place. It’s been easy to get bogged down in all of the negativity and disunity. I know it’s taken it’s toll on me. But it has also reminded me how much life there is to be lived outside of the computer or our smart phones. What a refreshing thing to sit across a table from another human and look them in the eyes and just listen. And be heard. I am so thankful I got to spend time with friends this week, yes, talking about the hard things. But also laughing. A lot. And being honest and being affirmed. I hope you’ve got people who can do that for you too.

When all else fails, there’s baby cuddles. And the pure blissful way in which Ollie sees the world will put a smile on my face any day. :]

And now, I’ve got some fun feels for you on this grey Monday

• Legitimately our big weekend plans were “go to target.” We went with our friends, so that definitely makes it better. But guys, should this be as exciting as it is? Should I really love Target so much that I look forward to going to see their Christmas section?!
• (I find solace in the fact that I know I’m not the only one. My friend Krysta thought “target!” was a totally acceptable plan for the evening)
• Nothing makes it feel like the holidays quite like the Nutcracker! Some of the college girls are dance majors, and it was so fun to see them all perform this weekend! Hearing the music always takes me back to memories of dancing ballet as a little girl. And just how desperately we all wanted to be Clara.
• Last night we got to do an engagement session that we’ve been looking forward to for months now! And even better, we got to share a meal afterwards. The couple has a baby the same age as Ollie so it was perfection!
• We had a staff Thanksgiving on Friday and it was perfectly timed. Comfort food to the max.
