Happy spring, friends! I’m feeling a little bit like it came out of nowhere and I’m a little bitter about it due to allergies. I’m one of those people who mourns the end of anything and everything because I’m emotional. Soooo right now I’m mourning the end of snuggly, sweater-y winter and trying to make peace with the fact that I’m going to feel hot when I walk outside. (I know I’m weird!)
This past week was jam packed! I think we’re just making up for all the lazing around we did in January and February :] We had TWO engagement sessions with sweet couples. One of which we already know and love and one of which we’d never met and now super love. That is the benefit to all this beautiful weather though, lots of time with joyful couples out in the sunshine. Radford and Blacksburg delivered some seriously gorgeous evenings for us! My sister also bopped into town this weekend so we enjoyed getting to be with her and have some friend reunions! Annnnnd I had an excuse to see Beauty and the Beast again since she hadn’t seen it :]
The only bummer of the week was one of my favorite people moved from our small town this weekend to Richmond. It’s not the other side of the planet, but it feels like it when she’s lived within a few minutes from me for almost all of our 7 year friendship :/ We had a bittersweet time of praying for her, encouraging her, and sending her off this week. As I hugged her with tears in my eyes, I was struck again by how thankful I am for the relationships we’ve found and grown in our weird little town. It’s never where we would’ve chosen to be or probably even the people we’d have chosen to be with, but God just knows exactly what we need.
Now for feels:
- Our single chill night this week was spent watching Black-ish. We’re obsessed. David started watching it a few weeks ago and we’re so hooked. Rainbow is my favorite!
- I can’t remember the last time I had to get the ice cream scoop from somewhere other than the dish drainer. When you eat ice cream often enough…it means the scoop never makes it to the drawer. But I had to search for it last night and I call that a win! (or a lose depending on how you look at it)
- Unfortunate perks of being a Grey’s Anatomy fan…every time there’s a close up of someone in a moving car you EXPECT them to get in a car crash. And it feels slightly off when they don’t. (also don’t even talk to me about the most recent episode with the couple who’d been married for 60 years…i legit sobbed into david’s shirt)
- All Oliver does is eat right now. He is a cheerio hoarder, he’s obsessed with bananas, and he even eyed my friend’s Chipotle bowl like he was entitled to it the other night.
- Also, I’m biased, but he’s disturbingly cute. He puts his hands under his chin and smiles at us. He blows kisses to everyone he meets. And he learned to use a straw and it’s the cutest thing ever.
- I bought some girl scout cookies in the middle of February and I only just finished them off. What an accomplishment! It certainly helps that David cut out sweets for Lent, but I am still quite impressed.
- The Shoot and Share Photo Contest results came out this past week and it was so fun to see how my favorite images from 2016 did in a contest of over 300,000 images! And in a turn of events that no one was surprised by, two of my top images were Ollie. His Harry Potter picture was favorite like crazy and an image of him in David’s fedora got 72nd place out of 23,000 images in it’s category! (i’m super proud of how my professional images did, but my eye roll at Ollie’s cuteness carrying him to the top is strong :])
Here’s a little peek at Max and Casey’s session! More on the blog this week :] I love that they were willing to dance in downtown Blacksburg for a little bit!
