Phew! Another Monday! When you run on a college schedule, the month of April/the end of school always seems to creep up on you! At least it creeps up on me every single year! February and March felt nice and slow and now we’re almost mid way through April and we’ve got 3 weeks of school left! Which, for me, means lots of activities and lots of saying goodbye to my senior girls. So there’s lots of fun coming up and lots of bittersweet.
We took it real easy this past week and it was some kind of wonderful. There were some lazy afternoons and unscheduled evenings. I think that our week still might have been hectic for some people, but for us, it was downright relaxing. Three free nights in one week? Unheard of :] It’s even hard for us to believe…but we just don’t feel the need to pull late nights working like we used to! Our systems in business are at a place where they’re manageable and not overtaking us and that is such a good feeling. But it does make us feel a little weird when we “run out” of work to do! So I’ve been diving into some photo education and being refreshed and challenged by that heading into wedding season :]
These next two weeks have us picking up the pace again, so all this rest was good for our hearts and our heads. I got to go out for margs and chips and guac with one of my favorite people, David got get some reading in and watch/play basketball, and we had a lot of time watching our little guy toddle around. It’s the good stuff.
Now for some feel-y feels:
- Actual sentence from David last week: “Isn’t it weird that Hamilton will be the best thing we will ever see in our lives so everything else will be a letdown?” Well…when you put it that way :] But really, I’m fine with it! 1.5 months til Hamilton!
- Ollie practiced yoga with us this weekend. He couldn’t quite figure out what we were doing, but he loved crawling under us during downward dog and loved stretching his arms as high as he could get them. We got our work out in from yoga…and also from laughing at him!
- The most rewarding baking successes are when you throw something together last minute with ingredients you have on hand…and then everyone loves it! I made these Tollhouse Cookie Bars for our small group and people loved them. But PSA: I didn’t have enough butter or any nuts or brown sugar. So really this is the biggest win.
- David’s playing a game called “let’s see how long I can wait to change the lightbulbs.” We never notice how bad it is until we go upstairs to go to bed and can barely see to get upstairs. To be honest, we’ve always been terrible at this. House maintenance just isn’t our thing. I can never remember a time that all of the bulbs in our house have been functioning at the same time.
- Ollie’s had some major milestones this week! Running instead of walking, being a little bit more cuddly, and mostly carrying David’s hockey pucks around whenever he can find them. He’s developing a mischievous personality and it cracks us up!
- We’re officially sitting at 15 weddings for 2017! And we’re crazy excited for what is in store for all these sweet couples. This is shaping up to be our best season yet!
Is this not the cutest thing you’ve ever seen? I know I’m biased, but seeing Ollie look at his papa makes my heart melt.
