Remember when I said this Ollie update would be sooner than the last? Wellll, I’m cramming about three months of Ollie into one post. You’ll get to see him go from barely walking to running and dancing. So settle in, because this update is massive!
We are having the MOST fun with our little guy. There are things from every stage that we miss, but this truly has been the most fun part so far. Ollie is SO interactive and so hilarious now. He’s really a little toddler and he’s always trying to make us laugh. He’s even more of our little buddy and he’s so clingy and it makes us happier than it should. He really, really gets that we’re his safe people, so he clings to us like there’s no tomorrow when he senses we’re leaving him. He’s still crazy friendly in public. If we’re with him then he’s waving at strangers and blowing kisses to cashiers and staring at other babies. He’s got a knowing twinkle in his eye when he’s trying to catch someone’s attention and he KNOWS how dang cute he is. He looks so pleased with himself when he makes people smile or laugh. It seems like he takes such joy in being a joy bringer. And we love that about him.
He’s sweet out in public, but at home is truly where he shines. Maybe we’re raising a little introvert after all :] At home? He’s wild! He’s babble/yelling constantly and throwing blocks and laughing loud and tackling the dogs. He’s building with blocks and crawling into our laps to give us a book to read to him. He’s knocking over toys and turning everything upside down. And he’s most definitely trying to fit into any Ollie sized space. And running for the door every time we let the dogs out because he loves to explore. And my favorite thing? Always dancing. Any time he hears music he starts to tap his foot and then spin in circles. He typically spins until he falls over and it’s so adorable! He’ll even dance in his car seat when he hears a good beat. And he knows to clap at the end of a good song. (I think he knows from all of the Voice episodes we’ve watching around him) He’s just a blast to be around and we miss him when we’re only away for a few hours. Some days, we’re exhausted and thankful when bed time comes. But other days, we just want more time with our little guy. We’re super grateful for this season of life and how much our jobs allow us to be with him. He’s our greatest earthly joy.
Other fun updates: He eats constantly. And loves everything. Except tomatoes. His current favorites are thin slices of cheddar cheese, rice from Chipotle, and anything you’ll let him feed himself. He’s got SO many teeth! He gets seriously offended when we don’t share our food with him. Like we don’t even eat in front of him anymore because he freaks out. He LOVES smoothies. That and Moana will cheer him up when nothing else will. But he’s got to be the one holding the smoothie cup. He loves being independent. He’s mastered a few signs. He’s GREAT at doing “please” and “all done.” But he thinks “all done” is just fun to do. And lately, he’s been wearing out “please” and does it whenever we tell him no. He LOVES the pool and the bath. Sometimes he’ll try to hop in the bath when his clothes aren’t even off yet. He just loves water. (like his momma) And absolutely everything is like a ball and a hoop to him (like his papa) since he got a basketball hoop in the mail from his Mimi. He knows “good night” and “goodbye” and always responds to them with a wave and a kiss. He often blows me a kiss when I put him to bed :] And he’s started kissing us on the lips and we love it! He is in the tantrum phase right now, but we don’t mind it too bad. He gets angry, throws himself on the ground, and screams his lungs out, but is usually comforted by being held and rocked. He’s got some strong emotions in him :] He’s still a mostly excellent sleeper and napper and has that natural mohawk growing in. He’s maintained the cutest little belly even though he’s lost most of his baby chub. His eyes are still our favorite. Those lashes and his big brown eyes gets us every time.
Goodness, I truly could go on forever about him. And there’s a lot of pictures to prove it :] Hope you enjoy!
This was sometime during month 12. He was just getting the hang of walking and he often walked with his arms out to his sides and his fingers forming little pinchers…like a crab :]
Papa’s still his fav.
He always takes peoples’ hats off of their heads. Except for David…we think he just thinks that hats are part of his head because he wears them so often.
Behind the scenes at a shoot he tagged along to sometime in March :]
This was the first day that I really felt like he was a little boy. He got all muddy in the rain and skinned his knees and it made me realized I have a toddler now!
Month 13!
He loves copying us! So generally if we want him to do something…we have to do it first.
He was really into David’s hockey pucks this month.
So dramatic.
Easter :]
His little old man suspenders :]
Blowing kisses!
At the goodbye picnic for Cru at the end of April! He fell in love with cornhole boards and bean bags this day.
The students love him and it makes us happy.
I remember seeing this photo and feeling like I looked like SUCH a mom!
Month 14. He got sick so excuse the leg rash that’s hanging around in these. Don’t worry, he recovered just fine!
Doing his favorite thing! Every slam dunk ends with him demanding applause.
Dancing!
Always trying to escape.
The boy loves some cheerios.
These are from yesterday! Month 15, almost 16!
Here’s him signing “please.” He’s so cute, it’s hard to resist!
And on the flip side, him having a tantrum. The norm.
Ollie’s newest hobby? Petting Neville. Which always evolves into tackling Neville. Poor guy.
Can’t you see the fear in his eyes?
We’re so in love with you, little boy.
