It all started at Georgetown University. But the moment that stands out to both Martin and Elise as “the moment” was when Martin came to see Elise perform in concert. She stepped out on stage to sing and found Martin in the crowd, and I guess you could say that confirmed things. In something that seems straight out of a movie, at one point Martin mouthed the lyrics that Elise had promptly forgotten upon seeing him. Elise promises that there were normal bumps and bruises in their early relationship, but goodness this one night sounds picturesque. They celebrated afterwards by running around the streets of Georgetown, hand in hand, singing “Fly Me to the Moon” together. If that doesn’t just take your breath away…!
Their love story started almost a decade ago and they’ve spent a good bit of that time states, farther still, countries away from each other. Their engagement and quickly upcoming wedding marks the beginning of their lives together as well as an end to the long goodbyes! And that is certainly something to be celebrated. Martin and Elise are two of the kindest people you could meet. They’re genuine in a way that pours out of them the first time you meet them and it makes them a perfect fit together. We strolled around Georgetown at 6am last Sunday morning, among the early morning runners and the folks who hadn’t quite ended their Saturday night and you just never would’ve known how early it was by the smiles on their faces. There’s something about couples who have endured long distance that creates a contentment when they’re able to be side by side. Martin brings out Elise’s truest smile and she looked absolutely radiant when he snuggled her close. Georgetown is where their story started and where so much of their lives have been lived together; it only made sense that we would meet there for their engagement session.
I’m so over the moon to share their photos with you today. They’ve got a special type of love and we left that morning wishing we could’ve spent the whole day strolling around and exchanging stories. And it only helps that Elise is a fellow Harry Potter fan…we Hufflepuffs gotta stick together! (especially when our partners are Slytherins ;]) Hope you enjoy their session! Martin and Elise, we can’t wait for October!
Who else could make 6am look this good?
Elise, you are stunning! Can’t wait to see you in your wedding dress!
There was no water in the canal, but I think the light made up for it :]
Definite favorite!
Love this!!
