A literal month later and here’s our pictures from the beach :] Eek! I guess that just goes to show how absolutely insane the last 30 days have been! 3 weddings to shoot, 1 to be in, 1 four day conference in Raleigh, 1 twenty four hour trip for a concert, and much much more. Since it’s the first week of school and we’re ushering in Fall, I knew I HAD to get these images up. As much as I love blogging weddings, I love keeping you all up to date with our LIFE too! This blog is a little bit like a journal for me of all of the big goings on and heading to the beach this summer was SO wonderful!
Last year the fam went to OBX and had a blast. But goodness, was this year different. Ollie was almost 1.5 compared to being three months old! Also it barely rained and we had a lot of gloomy days last year! That means instead of being house bound while Ollie napped or reading on the porch holding him…we spent long days by the ocean! Instead of keeping him hidden under a tent for fear of sunburn (bc apparently sunscreen for babies under a year is a no no), we got to watch him run free! And he runs. And walks. And does things. Last year, he looked real cute, but he didn’t have a lot going on besides that :] Needless to say, it was a world of different.
We stayed in a house in Surfside just one block from the beach and my Mom and Stepdad and Grandma and Kelsey and Dylan AND even my family dog Bailey came! Talk about living the dream. It was so lovely. Only a couple weeks after Kelsey and Dylan got engaged and only a week after we lost our family dog Cooper. It was a great time to celebrate together and just be together. We’d wake up way early (thanks Ollie) and head to the beach and let Ollie run around like a maniac. I loved taking him out in the ocean in his puddle jumper once he got used to the ocean. He loved splashing and running in and out of the ocean and eventually crying for us to pick him up because he’d get a little scared. David loved doing all the beach prep and then watching it all happen haha. He’s definitely a relaxer/reader when it comes to the beach. When Ollie got sleepy we’d head back, take a dip in the pool, and then put Ollie down while we ate lunch and hung out. If we were lucky, we’d get out to the beach again! We all traded off cooking dinner every night which was super fun and helped it be relaxed too! And almost every night we’d find ice cream somewhere :] David and I even got a date night in halfway through the week!
One night, we went out to take some portraits…duh! :] It was pretty gloomy and hazy and the sun set fast, but I still love what we got. Ollie was being a grump this night so he’s mostly looking real tired. Also…he woke up every single night at the beach at 3 or 4AM and stayed up for an hour or so and then went back to sleep. So that didn’t help either haha. Here’s a little glimpse into our beach fun!
I took DILIGENT instastories while at the beach so I’m going to upload those to this post later :] My phone is DUNZO right now aka I ran it over with our car (ugh) so it’ll have to wait for now :]
Grump. With my lipstick on his face.
Love this!
Love this so much. He was addicted to the beach.
Sweet boy loves his aunt!
Ugh his little smile!
Kels took a few of us on her own! I thought she did pretty well :]
Still my favorite guy.
A typical feisty Ollie progression. Punching Kelsey in the mouth and loving it.
All four of us! Mom came out with us, but she’d kill me if I posted a picture of her!
Annnnnd this is when he’d had it. But I still love it hahah.
My cute Gram bought a confetti popper for Kelsey and Dylan!
It may have gone poorly and required several redos…
This bear loves his Gram Gram.
Also loves confetti.
And his Grampy!
Can’t handle him.
