It’s hard to believe that 2017 marked our fourth full wedding season! We’ve now photographed over 60 weddings as a team and over 50 more when you count all of the ones we’ve second shot over the years :] Our lives are full to the brim with gorgeous couples making beautiful commitments to each other. We get to spend SO many of our weekends being a part of someone’s best day ever! (and it just never gets old!) That’s time spent on dance floors with tons of people screaming “don’t stop believing!” and air guitar-ing, in bridal suites with lifelong friends laughing and hugging and happy crying, and in ceremonies full of the people who have made the bride and groom exactly who they are. And our favorite, in the intimate moments that our couples share with no one else. We get to be there for the first looks and the quiet prayers and the “ohmygoshhh we’re married!” moments. And we get the privilege of making sure that everyone else gets to feel like they were there too. It’s really the best thing and we leave smiling ear to ear every time. (and then we talk about our favorite part of the day in the car and look for excuses to tell our friends and family about how sweet the day was)
This is one of my favorite posts to put together every year! I think social media makes wedding photography look super glamorous…but I think after seeing this post you’d agree that that’s not the case :] There’s a lot of dashing around and carrying heavy equipment and looking ridiculous so our clients look incredible! Amidst all the joy I mentioned above, there’s the day as only seen from our point of view! The veil tossing and the bouquet carrying and the timeline keeping and the escorting and the posing and the actual shooting :] We get a behind the scenes look at every wedding we photograph, so today, you get a behind the scenes look at us photographing!
This job has been one of the great joys and blessing of our life in the grand scheme of things…but the little moments make our lives hilarious and fun too. I loved looking through these images from the last year because you can see just how emotionally, ridiculously, in love we are with this job. (especially me…i’m a crier hahaha)
Enjoy! Complete with my commentary 😉
David walking our groom to the first look :]
“Okay…have your intimate moment…just try to forget about the cameras…” :]
We might have some fun… :]
David trying to keep from laughing uncontrollably.
This bride’s one of my dear friends from college and I LOVED getting to hug her right after the ceremony. And cry literally all day.
Compilation of David walking down the aisle so I can test light in the exact same outfit!
Sometimes he makes this face while he walks down the aisle and I want to laugh and cry at the same time.
David is our resident fashion guru 😉
“Okay, now toast on THREE!” (but also I came home from this wedding and my grandma asked me if it had rained…I never wore my hair like that again haha)
Can you find me :]
Attack of the drones! We’re living in the future people!
I don’t know why this makes me laugh hysterically… but David looks like he’s contemplating life in this reception hall.
Just casually photobombing dancers :] (top left makes me weak hahha)
I got a weird amount of joy when I watch people dance :]Â
Just scooting in for a high five after the ceremony!
And a hug! Oops!
Being 4 feet away from intimate moments is my specialty.
David. I just can’t even. When you see him. You can’t unsee him.
One of our favorite days ever!
Smiling because we found out there was a TACO TRUCK for dinner.
So glam. Just casually moving a coat so I could get an epic ceremony shot.
Emotional congratulations as per usual.
Super embarrassing, but incredibly accurate picture of how I feel behind the camera when my bride and groom are killing it!
Oh hey.
That time David had to sit on a bed to get the shot 😉
Sometimes we work with our friends and it makes things even better!
Michael’s a talented videographer we get to work with often!
And Lindsey stepped in that time I jacked up my knee the night before a wedding! She saved us from stress and helped take care of me!
Oh hey Michael! I’ve got a fair amount of embarrassing stuff of him at this point…
When we work with friends….AND the bride and grooms are already our friends…things get cray.
And when we know most of the wedding guests…things get extra fun!
Get ready for a SLEW of past (& one future) KPP couples :] This wedding was such a reunion for us!
More friends :]
When your friends are at the front table so you make them toast :]
“sooooo how are we doing this smoke bomb exit?”
Love these two! We’ll never forget this day!
I spy! At our wedding venue :]
Do you like how I rotated about three outfits all year?
This handsome guy…
My favorite bridal suite and details of the year. I was heart eyes all day long at the Cosmos Club.
Seeeeee?!
Just casually in the background of David’s images :] And wearing my knee brace. Oof.
When the bride is one of your faves and in fact changed your whole life so you hug and get your own 30 second session.
It was a little bit easier to hop into zipping the dress this day 🙂
Every bride’s BFF. Carrying all the things.
Love seeing the journal that we gift couples show up during ceremonies! Makes me cry!
And so does the moment when we get to pull off a surprise for the couple :]
Hi :]
HIIIII!
Stud. He wore that suit so often and never looked any less handsome in it :]
Exhibit A.
We’re here to help. With veils and flower crowns.Â
And keeping you hydrated.
And fluffing dresses :] Thanks Lindsey!
And veil floating! Duh!
Two of my fave BTS shots from the year!
And here are the ones that make me embarrassed…but laugh hard enough to share them. Me enjoying the glory of a brownie mid reception.
And noticing that David caught me.
David being two feet away from this epic groom moment.
Michael happily photobombing.
David’s reflection in the car window.
And this. When you see it. I’m casual. Hi.
One thing that strikes fear into the heart of photogs but is ALWAYS worth it? Running backwards through a flaming tunnel of FIRE in the hands of so excited guests.
And some iphone peeks. That time nine of my brides from over the years were in the same room!
We always miss Ollie on wedding days :]
That time I got to relive the glory days and second shoot for Abby Grace!
Our wedding day selfies that all look the same!
That time David forgot our suitcases at home and we had to buy clothes from Walmart and we drowned our sorrows in delicious brownie.
Our favorite way to end a wedding day…treat yo’self with FOOD!
CHIPOTLE.
And last wedding of the year. Mcdonald’s hooray!
Here’s to many more years of getting to do this side by side!
