Ollie’s 2nd birthday party was a labor of love :] I love that his birthday will always coincide with my off season because I truly enjoy having time to put fun things together for him! Our little guy is OBSESSED with Sesame Street…specifically Elmo and Cookie Monster (mo-mo and cook-yea)! He starts out his mornings with an episode and breakfast aka we’re doing that right now :] Basically, he made it really easy for me to pick a theme. And what do you know? Pinterest is a treasure trove for fun Sesame Street ideas! It’s actually a bit overwhelming! I took all my favorite ideas, made a list of crafts that had the same type of materials…and then I crafted every night for two weeks straight. For real, as soon as he went to bed, I’d start cutting out Elmo noses and hot gluing fabric cookies.
I wanted it to be a fun party, but really, I just wanted Ollie to be surprised by all of his favorite characters in his house! We couldn’t let him in the back half of the house for a week or so because he spotted a giant Elmo and had a complete meltdown that he wasn’t allowed to have it yet! Poor guy! It was all totally worth it to see his face as he realized everything had been transformed to look like Sesame Street. I think my favorite thing I made had to be the Cookie Monster toss! He’s still playing with it every day! Okay, it might be tied with the balloon wreath :] My sister helped with some of the big details the week before (tracing the giant elmo and cookie monster) and she helped me pull together all the food on the day of! We got a little delirious making it all happen, but we got it all done! (to be fair, we were done six minutes after the party started…but hey! it got done!)
In the end, it was the absolute perfect way to celebrate our little guy. He had a blast and you better bet we’re leaving up all the decorations for at least a month! He loves them too much not to! I also loved that the big, more time intensive projects, were things that could fill and decorate his playroom once we were done with them in our living space :]
We’re so thankful for everyone who came out to celebrate him!
This photo wall was a last minute addition that I ended up loving :] Mostly because we get to keep them up!
The cookie toss! The cookies are made of felt and filled with rice, hot glued together! So fun!
Take home cups for the kiddos :]
The adults got to use these fun Elmo paper cups I made :]
Elmo cake pops! The only thing I didn’t have Pinterest inspiration for! This one was all me :]
Thankful that my sister grabbed an iphone pic of the whole spread! I forgot! Check out that rubber ducky punch :]
Waking up from his nap to a house full of party!
Slightly overwhelmed.
He needed some cuddles before we was ready to explore…
….and then he went wild.
Backfocused but I love it.
Pin the nose on Elmo!
Accurate depiction of me as a mom. Obsessed with him.
Papa making that face we make when Ollie takes bites because we’re afraid he’ll open his mouth and everything will fall out. hahha.
FRIENDS!
Progression of finding out that one of his favorite babysitters gave him Cookie Monster slippers!
His joy is my favorite.
Iphone pictures of us with our bear because he only likes the instax and iPhone.
