Abby had an assignment. An actual assignment. Talk to a boy she didn’t know. It wasn’t Steven. But he spotted her from the across the party anyways. The girl he’d seen at his house for a Lord of the Rings viewing. He sneaked his way into the conversation and they bonded over poking fun at one of their mutual friends. Eventually, Abby DMed him, putting herself out on a limb, hoping he’d be up for a date. And he was. That one moment of bravery that transformed the direction of her life, a simple direct message. They met in Richmond for burgers (something Abby swore she’d never do on a first date…but this wasn’t any old first date) and the rest was history! Months later, thousands of miles of long distance dating later, and who knows how many ice cream cones later, Steven proposed. Nervously, in the kitchen, with ice cream present. Because if that doesn’t fit them perfectly, then what does?
Friends, this couple is a special one. They spent the majority of our time together just cracking up. They’re both fun and hilarious on their own, but together? There is constant laughter! Either Steven was whispering jokes into Abby’s ear and Abby was rolling her eyes back and then busting out laughing or Abby was doing the same to him. The way they hold onto each other, the anticipation you can hear when they talk about being married, the way they have special smiles reserved only for the other…you can just tell that they are each other’s homes. They know the path and the hours from Floyd to Richmond like the back of their hands at this point, but it’s all been so worth it. And thankfully, there’s only two more weeks until they get to say a permanent goodbye to goodbyes and finally, finally live in the same place.
These two couldn’t be more excited to get married! And we couldn’t be more excited to celebrate with them! I’ve actually known Steven since freshman year of college and can vividly remember all of our late night milkshake runs and that one time I asked him if he thought David liked me :] He swears that I’ve been “Kaitlyn Phipps” in his phone long before David and I were ever engaged! We’ve gotten to see him grow and change and to see him find his wife? It’s indescribable! Abby was a bridesmaid in TWO of our 2017 weddings and this time, it’s her turn! May 19th is going to be a good, good day!
Hope you enjoy they’re Richmond session! It’s funky and fun just like them :] Ice cream included.
Steven kept squishing Abby whenever he had the chance and it was cracking me up :]
Best friends :]
JOY! And Abby you are just so pretty!
One of my faves!
He loves her so!
One of my faves because they share our affinity for ice cream dates…and ice cream every day!
