I’ll be honest with y’all. How am I supposed to write my sister’s engagement post? I can’t sum up all the twists and turns and ups and downs of our lives in just a few paragraphs…I can’t even fathom trying. Also, how is she old enough to get married?! *insert laughing crying emoji face because she’s 26 and I got married at 22* Here’s what you need to know: Dylan and Kelsey met in Ohio one summer where she worked as an athletic trainer and he was playing summer baseball. Dylan was from Missouri, Kelsey from Virginia. Seems like it would be impossible for this to work out, right? But still, it did. One short year and a lot of life with a capital L later, Dylan moved halfway across the country to little old Radford to be with her. And then she moved two hours away for school! I think it’s safe to say that they know long distance better than almost anyone! One year after he moved, he finally got to ask her the question he’d been wanting to ask since early on in their relationship! Dylan proposed and finally they had a lifetime together, actually together, to look forward to.
But here’s what Dylan and Kelsey would really want you to know. They’ve been changed by Jesus. And God used Radford to do some of it. They’re imperfect people in an imperfect relationship that holds so. much. joy. because God loves them. And because they love God first and ask Him to come in and fill in all the broken places. They’ve been changed forever by the grace of God and that’s what they celebrate most! It’s crazy that they have each other. But God always knew that they would. I came to this little town almost ten years ago, and something happened that started a chain reaction, first in me, then in Kelsey. And a decade ago, I certainly wouldn’t have imagined us where we are. But God knew. Now Kelsey’s marrying a man who loves Jesus and adores her and I have a husband and a toddler and we’re all going to live in the same town! It’s all just crazy. Life has been so unexpectedly wonderful. And Kelsey and Dylan together is a huge piece of that.
Their engagement session was hilarious. Just like they are. Yes, there’s all the mushy gushy stuff of why we’re thankful for Dylan, but also we’re just thankful that he’s a weirdo. Because Kelsey certainly is! And so are we! There’s a significant amount of uncontrollable laughter in their lives and inside jokes and squishing each other because they think it’s funny. So of course, they randomly met the owner of an alpaca farm and then we planned their session around the alpaca’s availability. It was still snowy and winter wonderland-y outside and we had a blast seeing the alpacas! And laughing at them because they’re basically like giant dogs! And our specific alpaca, Sambra, was LOVING Dylan. She couldn’t get enough of him. Basically she brought the session up to a whole new level of cute. And somehow, entered a love triangle into Kelsey and Dylan’s lives. Dylan and Kelsey and Dylan and Sambra. We were just dying laughing and having so much fun!
Hope you enjoy their session! It’s quite obviously my favorite ever because of the people in it!
