Drew and Katie are Maryland lovers, so it only made sense they’d get married on the bay! With a little bit of salt in the air and a dock leading out to the water, it was the perfect setting for their wedding day. Did I mention that these two are six years in the making?! Because of that fact, there was both an excitement and a comforting feeling in the air! Everyone was so ecstatic that these two were finally making it official! And at the same time, so many of their circles already knew each other, from their families to their WVU friends…their lives had already been intertwined for so long that it was really just a big reunion of their favorite people. Katie stepped into her dress with her momma and there was not a dry eye when her dad came in to see her! Her girls were equally emotional when they got the chance to see their bestie as a bride! But no one had quite the reaction that Drew did.
The ceremony started and his anticipation grew. Katie and her father started the long walk down the aisle and tears welled up in Drew’s eyes. As they got closer and closer, Drew had to start wiping tears back, overwhelmed with emotion at seeing his favorite person as a bride. They walked back up the aisle absolutely beaming, sharing hugs with friends and family and awash in the feeling that finally, finally they were married! The reception was a continued celebration of the fun and wonderful people that they are. The toasts had everyone laughing and agreeing over and over that Drew and Katie were better together. And the dance floor was busting at the seams all night long! With the newly married couple always at the center of the action! The live band had everyone entertained late into the night and the evening ended with sparklers, a surprise fireworks show, and a champagne boat ride for the new Whalens! Surely, a wedding day that no one will forget!
Drew and Katie, we’re so thankful to know you guys! Our only regret is that we didn’t get even more time with you both! You’re both so fun and welcoming and the way that you compliment each other is so wonderful. We know we’ll be talking about your wedding day for years and years to come! Best day ever!
