Porter and Kaylynn met through the Air Force. Kaylynn, self admittedly, fiercely competitive and loving the challenge of a game, and Porter, not too into the activity, but crushing it anyways. Kaylynn even joked that she went full soccer mom and brought juice boxes to the game just to make up for the fact that she knew her team was going to lose. And Porter took the opportunity right after the game to go introduce himself…or as he thought, reintroduce himself. There was something familiar about her and he wanted to figure out where he knew her from! Kaylynn still laughs as he relays this story, still convinced it was just an excuse for him to talk to her. And once he started talking to her, he never wanted to stop. He asked her to hang out every day of their training, prompting Kaylynn to finally ask if he was going to keep this up so she could put him in her schedule! As a life of military service often requires, they were sent a part from each other shortly after. They went through years of long distance, years of cross country flights, years of deployments, and even still, they stayed side by side in their hearts. And now, after a sunrise hike to the top of McAfee’s Knob, they’re getting married!
Porter and Kaylynn have such an easiness between the two of them. One that could only come from a deep thankfulness of getting to be in the same physical location! They’ve built a life together while being separated not only in miles, but in communication! It’s just so impressive the way they kept pursuing each other! And now, they’re finally in the same place! Just in time for them to get married :] They’re a perfect fit! Their work has taken them all over the world, and still they’d rather just be together, snuggling with their puppies, more than anything else. After a life full of adventures, the ordinary is perfectly enough for them. We strolled the streets of Old Town Alexandria and heard stories about their time together, taking breaks so Porter could make sure Kaylynn was warm and of course, breaks to see their sweet little pups! It was mid November, and somehow, this one little corner of Northern VA still had fall leaves! And they were falling as we did the session! It was just a dream.
I’m so, so excited to be sharing this Old Town Alexandria engagement session with you all today! Porter and Kaylynn, you guys are so much fun to be with and we cannot WAIT for your July wedding! It’s going to be the best party and the best day ever!
