Another year, another wedding behind the scenes post! It’s one of my favorite things to put together because you can see just how ridiculously in love with our business and our clients and weddings we are! Seriously, what an absolute privilege to get to be front row to the most joyful moments of our brides and grooms lives. To be a part of the family, in with the bridal party, and even more so, their personal third wheels for the day :] We get to be there for every toast, every first look, every emotional letter reading, every single hug. It’s a privilege that we don’t take lightly and one we never grow tired of. You could put us at a wedding every weekend and we’d still be smiling from ear to ear with aching feet at the end of the night. The energy is infectious and there is nothing that is ever identical when it comes to one wedding day versus another. Each is our couples very best day and we cherish that responsibility.
This year marked FIVE years in business for us. What in the world! Five years of rushing around venues and fluffing dresses and carrying blooms and tearing up at every father daughter dance and smiling so hard I feel like my cheeks are aching. Five full wedding seasons that make up over 75 weddings that we’ve photographed as a couple and a team. And I wouldn’t have it any other way! Wedding days are glamorous, absolutely, but they’re also so, so fun and usually so funny! We work long days and it can be so physically tiring, but we are literally just laughing and smiling all day long so it never gets to us. Really, it’s been five years of tackling wedding days side by side and loving it and each other more all the time. How sweet is it that our marriage gets to witness other marriages beginning so, so often?! We essentially get to renew our own wedding vows in witnessing so many thoughtful ceremonies. It’s wonderful.
And goodness, we LOVE our clients! People always ask me if I have to work with “bridezillas” and I always just laugh! Our brides are the sweetest people, and it’s a joy to be with every single one of them. The very best part of weddings are the people that make them a reality. From other vendors to family members to bridal parties to the couples themselves. It’s always a little bittersweet to leave at the end of a reception knowing that we don’t know when we’ll see everyone next!
Now that I’ve gushed and gushed, onto the fun! Instagram may make our jobs look fabulous and picture perfect, but here’s a little dose of reality :] Messy hair and outfit repeats very much included!
I just really appreciate David’s ninja skills as a veil thrower :]
Can you spot David? Just blending in at a ceremony!
And holding the veil like a pro.
And playing secret service for our bride!
and of course, dancing with our past grooms.
And here’s me, doing what I do best…photographing the bride while she does her wedding day scratcher!
Walking the bride to her first look.
Directing the giant group photo of everyone in attendance!
And then editing David out later…
And of course, posing for a photo with a guest :]
And experiencing the most joy watching people on the dance floor. I can’t get enough!
Oh also…hiding in bushes to get the shot.
My number one light tester and schedule keeper.
And number one photobomber. Don’t worry, We got Tara and Gus in all their glory uninterrupted!
File this under…things I had to photoshop later. Can you see David hiding behind Justin and Hollyn?
One of our fav first looks! Michael was setting up audio for the groom and the anticipation. was. real.
When your friend’s kiddos are the ring bearer and flower girl :]
And when you know the boys in the bridal party and they get cray….
Real life. It’s a shame all these boys are married! What am I supposed to do without their wedding antics?
Just inserting myself into the first look.
David in his natural habitat. Holding things and making sure I don’t step into traffic.
Sometimes we get in each other’s way (cough david’s arm cough)
And sometimes mirrors are our worst enemies :] Try and spot us!
That time we had the biggest bridal party EVER!
And, if I do say so myself, handled it like bosses even in the midst of RAIN!
Oh hi.
hi.
HI!
Getting the thumbs up for portrait time and catching my own reflection in a window!
All those times I looked a little bossy…
In my dang element. Sock bun and portrait time annnd baby bump.
I got the joy, joy joy.
What a dream day. On the side of literal mountains with SO MUCH portrait time.
SEE?!
Just basking in the glow of Aiyana’s bridal look.
And David being my perpetual bag mover.
Danger zone! We love sparkler exits, but there is something about being in the middle of a literal FIRE TUNNEL that gets your blood pumping!
That time I told my former small group girls I was 4 weeks PREGNANT on Emily’s wedding day and Haley immediately burst into tears and started hyperventilating. Funny thing is, I found out I was pregnant with Ollie on Haley’s wedding day three years prior.
A few sweet weddings with my former college girls. Two of them were BRIDES!
This makes me a little teary. I just love these women!
That time I almost got squished in a mosh pit.
For real, lucky to be alive :]
Always lurking…
When we shot our friends’ wedding and David jumped in group photos :]
All those former college boys…we took a “soccer picture” and they called David over by yelling “Coach D!!!” Which has now stuck with him.
A little glimpse into what you see versus what I shot!
I felt like this was a blooper with Gus the horse. Agreed?!
Joy up on the mountain top!
Photobombing David.
It looks like I’m taking a break…but really I was just doing what it took to get this epic willow tree portrait sans cars in the background!
Sometimes our pastors are at weddings :]
And they live it up on the dance floor.
And if it’s Jesse (who also married us!) he makes a scene and asks me if I need help with my white balance.
All the bridal party funs.
Pro tip – strangers’ dogs always make the groomsmen happy :]
A small lesson in taking care of the bride, by David.
Things I had to crop out later…David’s hand :]
Leonard and Michelle might go down in history as most thoughtful couple ever. They took time during their reception to thank everyone in attendance and then singled out the vendors who made their day happen for a personal thank you!
I’ll never say no to Sinkland Farms gorgeous bridal suite.
Or to giving a quick hand with the dress.
Spot David!
Remember how I said we work with all the best people? Sarah’s one of them!
In heaven with Maria’s details.
That time Brendan and Rachel took us all the way to Cape May for their big day! One of our all time faves!
Shadow Creek is our favorite venue because the BEST people always work there!
Most impressive moment of 2018 – this catering staff…carrying the cake through a crowded dance floor like it was nothing.
Favorite bridal party entrances go to Chad and Katie’s wedding! Everyone was cracking up at their descriptions and clearly (and embarrassingly so) I was cracking up too!
Just blending.
Very casual.
Umbrella holding and shooting simultaneously is listed under our special skills.
And so is reception light set up testing. Thanks Jobin :]
Filed under…things I probably shouldn’t have done while pregnant…aka stand on the rocks right over the bay.
Oh heyyyy! I’ll photoshop me out later, okay?!
We get to work with so many great people! Vendors…
and fun brides and grooms included :]
Clearly, we loved these two. Look at David taking them in hahah.
That time a bunch of girls from my middle and high school who I hadn’t seen in at least a literal decade asked me to jump in their reunion pic! :]
Guests always want selfies on our big camera :] This is always how they turn out!
We couldn’t stop smiling on Michelle and Leonard’s day. You can even see it on our blurry background faces :]
Other skills include – taking iPhone photos for guests!
And looking like the most handsome man in the world. Oh…I guess that’s just David!
Our sweet deejay friends who are also a former KPP couple!
Just the bump…making itself known in the background of a tea ceremony.
Another bump photobomb.
This was RIGHT before our gender reveal and we were on pins and needles waiting to find out! And it just so happened that there were a million cute asian children at Leonard and Michelle’s wedding! So I’m imagining that David’s wondering if we’re having a girl in this frame :]
My fav guy.
And my new fav girl! This was our last wedding of the year! And last wedding before baby comes.
Annnnd just a small glimpse into behind the scenes of my sister’s wedding day! I’m thinking I’ll do a full post about this sometime soon so this is just a peek!
And here’s our iPhone snaps :] That time we were loving life in Cape May! Location scouting was pretty dang impressive.
When I LOVE the details and can’t contain it.
Food. always Food.
Selfies with our light stand, duh.
And selfies with my true love. Chipotle. Especially when you account for the fact that I was pregnant for 14 of the weddings we shot this year!
Midday selfies.
And car selfies.
And bump selfies. Thanks for the close up, David ;]
The best part of this job is that we get to do it together!
