It all started with a cat meme! Well before that, it started with Omer asking his friend for Katelyn’s number…but then, the meme just to break the ice. They connected through calls and texts so when they got to meet up at the National Harbor weeks later, they were already connected. Their first date spot become their “spot” after awhile and the summer stretched out before them, Omer and Katelyn falling deeper in as their first goodbye drew near. Omer was stationed in Maryland and Katelyn was headed to college in South Carolina.

They’ve never known a time where they lived in the same place – never known what it’s like to see each other with ease. And because of that, they cherish every hour together. Life and the military has brought them all over – continents and countries and states a part. But here they are, still standing, still committed to loving each other! There may be lots of airport reunions in their life together, but they have each other and that’s all that matters!

Katelyn anxiously awaited a proposal and Omer delivered just days before the shut downs in March 2020. They were at the National Harbor (of course, where else would they be when so many of their memories took root there?!). Katelyn looked the other direction and by the time she turned around, Omer was on one knee, asking her to marry him. Now they’re counting down until August, and even more, a life side by side.

We had to meet up at the National Harbor for their engagement pictures! Nothing else would fit them so well. We wandered their happy place and basked in the dreamy sunset atmosphere. Omer and Katelyn are so fun to be around and the evening went by so quickly! I’m obsessed with their images and I hope you guys are too!

We were like 10 minutes in at this point! I knew it was gonna be a good night!
