Sinkland Farms was already full of dancing when we arrived! A sweet kind of deja vu in the air because just four years ago, we were showing up for Jordie’s wedding day – but today, it was her little sister Ellie who was getting married! Ellie and her girls were bouncing off the walls excited, singing along to their speakers, hyping up their bride and phew, when she put the dress on – they were speechless!! Ellie is everyone’s biggest hype girl, so for her to be on the other side of things was so magical. She saw her dad and her brothers shortly after and there wasn’t a dry eye in the room! Especially when her little brother had tears spilling down his face. Her first “touch” with Ty brought tears anew and a lot of laughter. They just get each other. Two halves of a whole in a way that is so easy to see.
It felt like there was a collective emotional explosion as Ellie walked down the aisle towards Ty. They both curled their shoulders up towards their ears, smiles growing wider and wider, positively giddy to see each other! These two are a force for Jesus and fierce lovers of their friends and family and all eyes were locked on the two of them as they shared their vows. After some sweet words and promises, and even a few dance moves, they were married and dancing back up the aisle! So much joy and laughter was ringing out! The rest of the evening was just the same – delicious food, so many hugs, and…dancing! Oh boy, was there dancing! The kind that didn’t even pause for hours on end, with Ty and Ellie always right in the thick of things, rejoicing with their people.
During the ceremony, their officiant shared this quote about Ty and Ellie – “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” And it’s true, people are drawn to them because of the joy in their hearts and the love they so freely give and the way they care for people with abandon. When you’re in the presence of Ty and Ellie you know you have true friends and that you’re loved. But even more special, in the quiet moments by the willow tree and out in the wheat fields, I got to see that that is just how Ty and Ellie make each other feel as well – cherished, known, whole, and loved.
Congratulations you two! It was the honor of a lifetime to be there for you!
