You guys are not ready for James and Jill’s love story! It all comes down to a single sticky note that got them back in touch after years and years.
James and Jill’s foundations go all the way back to summer camp in Pennsylvania. Jill insists that everyone knew she had a crush on James…except for James himself of course. Her crush on James had even been the stuff of family lore. So much so, that her sister had told her that James was married at one point. They agreed the dream was dead. But…years after that summer camp meeting…Jill gets a text from James. Because James has just found a sticky note that she left in his game of Set with a challenge…”You’re going down”. She was playing the long game that’s for sure. It had been SEVEN years since they met at that camp. And suddenly here James was, popping up in her phone. Thank the Lord her number hadn’t changed :]
It turns out, Jill’s sister was wrong! James hadn’t been married at all! Their texts back and forth picked up and turned into calls and eventually turned into a visit. It was all a whirlwind! And honestly, after meeting them, I can see why! They both have an infectious energy and joy, a quick wittedness where they spar back and forth at breakneck speed, and they share a deep love for Jesus. They are a perfect match. So after only three months of dating, James was concocting up a proposal that would call back to that very first summer, and the sticky note that restarted it all. The game Set had become a part of their relationship and one day, when James dealt out the cards and Jill averted her eyes to stop herself from cheating, he had a surprise in store. The cards were dealt in perfect order with perfect planning so that when Jill looked down at them, she’d see “Will you marry me?” sticky noted onto the cards themselves.
Now it’s three months after that and they’re getting married next weekend! What an epic story! I can only imagine what’s in store for them next. We spent their engagement session laughing and tripping over tree roots (me) and talking more about all God had done to bring them together at the exact right time. I’m so thrilled that their wedding is only one week away!
We had a little bit of a downhill hike to get to this spot, but it was worth it!
Love their smiles!
I can’t believe they get married in one week!
I am not exaggerating when I say that I merely suggested going up in the tree and then James and Jill were already in it! :]
The cutest!
Love their joy together!
And to showcase their true personalities – a chest bump of epic proportions.
