The blog is back! I know it’s been awhile and I’m glad to be back and sharing some images today. We’ve been busy busy bees and traveling for the last week and a half and its been a little crazy at the Phipps. But the craziness included some family shoots, wedding video, and sunset and sunrise maternity shoots! It’s been awesome and let me tell you, there is NOTHING like golden hour in Virginia. We’ve gotten to see that gorgeous golden light in the fields of southwest Virginia and on the beaches of Virginia Beach. I think sometimes I’m just unaware of how lucky we are to live in such a pretty and diverse state, but the last week has reminded me to appreciate it again!

I was lucky enough to spend the afternoon in this golden light at Heritage Park in Blacksburg last week with the Edwards. It was a perfect muggy late summer evening and it was an absolute joy getting to see their beautiful family run around the field for a bit. I loved hearing Jake’s perspective of the shoot after because he said it really brought all of their personalities out. Ellie, his oldest, just wanted to be beautiful. She spent the evening prancing around and twirling and dancing for the camera. She had no problem flashing a smile and corralling her siblings. She was peaceful and calm. Jude on the other hand, their second child, and only boy, was a complete ham. He couldn’t really sit still and loved to stand out. Whatever we were doing he had to be the one who jumped the highest, ran the fastest, and captured my attention. Colette, their second girl and third child, is her own person already! She did what she wanted to do. She would smile or sit still on her own terms and not on anyone else’s. Her fierce personality ensured that she remained free spirited the entire time. And Ivy is just a beautiful little baby. Jake and Carly loved on all of their kids so well the whole time, which they always do actually.

As sweet as it was to see their family in this setting, what I love even more is seeing them function in everyday life. They are such an example of a family who just loves each other and loves God. They are so unique and special and I’m so glad we got to spend this special time with them.
