This is an exciting post! Probably my favorite thing about being a wedding and portrait photographer is the opportunity to tell stories. I LOVE that my clients let me in to the most special and intimate moments of their lives! It is a privilege. And it’s something that truly fills up my heart. So, of course, it’s even more of an honor when I get invited into something that a photographer normally wouldn’t be there for. And that is just the email I got from Charlie about a month ago!
He had JUST bought his girlfriend a ring and it was burning a hole in his pocket and he wanted to propose…SOON! So we made it happen :] Charlie’s the brother of a groom from our 2014 wedding season, so that made the event even more special. A lot of sneaking around, a hand drawn map, and a week or so later and we were at Bold Rock Cidery in Wintergreen, waiting for Charlie to drop to one knee and ask an important question. Here’s what happened:
Bananagrams spelling out “Will you marry me?”
And as if being able to capture the raw emotion of ENGAGEMENT wasn’t enough for the day, we still got to do a little engagement session for Charlie and his new fiance, Brittany. Soon after she said a resounding “yes,” Charlie turned around and said, “Let’s go meet the photographers.” So cool! We met Brittany and then got to soak in the sweetness of this new stage of life with them. These two make each other laugh a ton and Brittany has signed on for a really fun life with Charlie, he’s hilarious! She’s got the sweetest smile and really comes alive when she’s in his arms.
This is why you should hire a photographer to capture your proposal! Such raw emotion 😀
Did I mention this was where they had their first date? And way back when, Charlie thought this might be a great place to propose!
And simply because this was unposed and maybe my favorite image. They’re so dang cute.
