williamsburg proposal – jonathan & jaelyn

I am SO excited about today’s post. So so excited. Because these people are some of my favorites! One of the best reasons for loving our job with Cru is the fact that we get to spend so much time with college students. We get to be around them while they make life altering decisions and while they change to be more like Jesus. And Jonathan and Jaelyn are two of those students.

They’re seniors at Radford and they are just the sweetest together. They’re two people who you can just celebrate and cheer for without any hesitation because they are so in love with Jesus. And each other. It’s really sweet to witness. So when Jonathan mentioned his proposal plan, we had to find a way to be a part of it! The original plan was this: he would drop to one knee at Busch Garden’s Christmastown, surrounded by family and friends. Things did not go as planned. Somehow last Monday happened to be the most crowded day at Busch Gardens EVER and shortly after Jonathan and Jaelyn made it into the park, it actually closed due to being filled to capacity. WHAT?! With all 30 or so of their family and friends still on their way to the park. Jonathan didn’t even have the ring! So a change of plans had to be made.

A couple hours later, the new location, colonial Williamsburg, was buzzing with Jonathan and Jaelyn’s favorite people, anxiously awaiting their arrival. Jaelyn’s parents called her requesting help for a flat tire and Jaelyn was none the wiser. And somehow, Jonathan kept it together and she wasn’t the least bit suspicious. She walked up slowly, saw the signs, and turned to Jonathan, “Is this for us?” And then the signs lit up and she was beaming! Covering her face in disbelief, smiling uncontrollably. Excitement only to be met by the moment that Jonathan dropped to one knee with her ring in hand. It was perfectly imperfect.
