I couldn’t believe it when Tyler and Samantha shared how they met! He just happened to be in her city, states away from his own home, and happened to stumble into the venue that her dad’s friend’s band was playing. And he asked her to dance. And the rest was history. They’ve spent over a year going back and forth to each other, but now, they’re on the path to being together. And it was a beautiful beginning to witness.

Tyler called me a few weeks ago with certainty in his voice. He wanted to propose to Samantha. He was bringing her out to Southwest Virginia, far from either of their homes. To Mountain Lake Lodge, aka the home of Dirty Dancing. Because yes, Samantha loves Dirty Dancing, but also, he loves Patrick Swayze :] So we started planning and suddenly it was Saturday. Tyler said he fully expected all of his emotions to come out! The whole way up the mountain, David and I were thinking about how nervous and excited he must be! But when the time came to get on one knee, everything was perfect and peaceful. The sun was low in the sky and Tyler led Sam to a quiet part of the property and she answered his question with a tearful, ecstatic yes! She wiped tears from her eyes and stared in disbelief as he placed a ring on her finger.

We only spent a little time with Tyler and Samantha, but it was enough to know that they are better together. Samantha laughs easily when Tyler pulls her close. They are at ease when they walk hand in hand. They talk back and forth and tell stories with the chemistry that would suggest they’ve known each other forever. As we parted ways and we drove off into the gorgeous sunset, we were just so thankful to have crossed paths with these two!

Congratulations to the future Hammetts! I hope you had the time of your lives out here :]
