I can just picture it now. Michael and Emily at the corner table in Black Water Loft. Warm drinks in their hands. Soft conversation and occasional laughs. That afternoon wouldn’t make things official, not for awhile. But it was a good start. Because they both come back to quiet, meaningful conversation over full, warm mugs time and time again. It wasn’t a beginning without bumps and hesitation, but it was an unbelievably sweet start. Eventually there would be no other way for them to acknowledge their deep friendship and pursuit than with the words “boyfriend” and “girlfriend.” And the rest is history! On a sleepy afternoon last Fall, Michael asked for Emily’s forever and now it’s only a few months until it’s official!
Anyone who spends time with Michael and Emily can tell that they are treasured friends to each other. They laugh back and forth, exchange meaningful glances often, and just exude light when they’re hand in hand. Michael agreed vehemently whenever I mentioned Emily’s gorgeous blue eyes and bright smile. Emily’s smile is on a whole new level when it’s aimed at Michael. They’re both people who love the Lord fiercely and are promising to do that together for as long as He gives them. And you can sense that when you spend time with them. They’re joyful friends, attentive listeners, and genuine in all that they do. We feel so lucky that we get to be a part of their celebration!
We’ve known Michael for quite some time. He’s part of the Cru alumni family at Virginia Tech and up until recently, we’ve been going to the same church in little old Radford for years now. We’ve loved having him as a friend over the years and seeing how much he pours his life into the people around him. He was a part of the Cru ministry at Radford and had such an impact on the students! All that to say, we were both pretty curious when we saw Emily attend a handful of weddings as Michael’s date throughout 2016! And we were always so delighted to see them dancing their hearts out together at every reception. (always a good sign) After having Michael as a groomsmen or musician at several weddings we’ve shot, we couldn’t be more thrilled to get to shoot his wedding! And after our time together, it’s so clear that he’s made even more of who he is with Emily. We can’t wait for July!
Hope you enjoy their engagement session in their future home, the little town of Floyd!
Just the sweetest smiles.
And I made them slow dance and it was the cutest thing.
Emily. You. Are. Gorgeous.
Back in their first date spot!
The table where it all started!
