Happy Spring Break! Oh wait, you aren’t on a college schedule? Oops :]
Sometimes I forget that we’re adults. We still celebrate spring breaks and summer breaks and month long winter breaks according to the college schedule and our calendar years run September to August instead of January to December! But I was quickly reminded of our adulty-ness today when we spent our Monday of spring break getting extra hours in on the business and cleaning the office. Oomph. That’ll remind ya real quick. And if that doesn’t, then being interrupting during said cleaning by a one year old will do the trick.
I’m so excited that it’s March! March gets all the best weather! Lots of cold, rainy days, some pretty spring ones, and usually some kind of snow flurry! I love all weather that doesn’t require sunscreen so this sounds like a win to me! Also, my birthday is in March, so that’s a big plus as well :] This past week held lots of normal: some sweet meetings with potential brides and grooms, all the aforementioned types of weather, and lots of new Ollie developments. He’s getting the hang of one word, is crazy obsessed with reading, and is working on mastering walking. His walk looks a lot like a crab walk…he’s often side stepping, walks with his arms above his head, and rubs his fingers together like he’s clicking his claws. It’s incredible.
SO MANY late afternoon feels for ya:
- It seems to be the case that every time I’m sick, we watch a LOT of “Friends.” I didn’t feel great on Saturday so we did a lot of marathoning. Has anyone else ever noticed how much they go to the movies? It feels like they’re always coming from or headed to one!!
- Another ode to the genius of Friends: every dramatic/serious/emotional moment in the show is just short enough that you don’t get sad because it’s immediately cut with a joke. Case in point: when Ross says the wrong name at his wedding.
- One of our friends taught Ollie to say “dog” and he says it CONSTANTLY! As soon as he wakes up in the morning or from a nap he immediately says “DOG” (well really “dag”) and looks at the little nook in his room where the dogs hang out.
- He also may have said “bad dog” a few times which is quite a reflection of how our life with dogs is currently going.
- Things that make you feel like a loser: Screaming at your dog while holding your baby and wearing pajama pants at 11AM…in front of high school kids skateboarding. But for real, when I told this story to David he just shook his head and said, “High schoolers, man. There’s something about them.” If there was ever a tough/unforgiving crowd it’s 15-18 year olds.
- We still have all the decorations up from Ollie’s birthday. It just makes the house happy, okay?
- In the midst of cleaning out the office I discovered a few boxes full to the brim of either gift bags or craft supplies. They were taped shut because I’d deemed them “too annoying to go through” a couple years ago. What is wrong with me?! Everything either went in the trash or into my new stockpile of wrapping supplies.
- One thing that is sure to steal my heart? Ollie toddling over to me with a book in his hand for me to read. Swoon. I can’t. It makes me want to cry just thinking about it.
The sneak peek below is from a session that hits the blog tomorrow morning! EEK! See ya then!
